It's the closest I've ever become to behaving like an adult at this party, and yet I still somehow over-indulged. I'm paying for it now. But I think it was worth it.
It's amazing that at my first Christmas party with the company we all fit into a room at The Capital Grille. This time (as in the past two years) we were in a ballroom at The Montelucia...and there were 180 people. I didn't even know most of them. Incredible!
If I overdid it a bit, well then, it would be the first time I've done such a thing in exactly a year. Yes, it's been a year since I've had more than just one...maybe two...drinks at a time. And do we think there might be a correlation that about two weeks after last year's crazy, crazy party I discovered that I was pregnant? I think yes. So, moral of the story is that good things can sometimes come from this party, in which I never act my age and always behave like an animal. Nobody was drawn on with Sharpies this year, however. Bonus!
It was our first time spending the night out without Gavin. And actually, our first time really going out at all without him. He has to be at home and getting ready for bed at about 6pm (or else everyone has to pay), which makes doing anything at night pretty tough. My mom was gracious enough to take him for almost 24 full hours while my dad headed out to meet some other guys on a camping trip with my nephew. Gavin slept pretty good for her and had a great time!
Our room at the Montelucia was amazing. It was our first time staying overnight after the party, and it's something we will definitely do in the future. As long as the company still throws amazing parties at a resort! We also enjoyed a late breakfast at our old favorite The Good Egg. It was a glorious 24 hours.
I'm not feeling my healthiest right now, and I managed to get nothing done around the house this weekend, but that's okay. I've been doing a lot of chores and stuff around the house and not much living life. I'm going to make it a point to do a little more living from now on! I'd been hitting the sack around 8:30 lately, and everyone knows I don't make a great party animal, but the DBD Christmas party always brings out an extra burst of nighttime energy for me. I didn't call it a night till after 12:30. In fact, I could be found dancing (yes, dancing) with my friends in the hotel bar after the party ended.
Traditionally, the photos from this party make for some of the best all year long. I brought my camera, and my big flash, too. And then I left it on the bed in the hotel room and didn't feel like retrieving it. But I have a feeling some photos might pop up out of the woodwork in the coming days. I sure hope so!
