Lovable, Squirmy, Turd Factory

Coming home from vacation is rough! I already knew that, but I guess I hadn't had a real vacation in a long time. It's like a switch flips when you walk in the house, and all of a sudden you're moving a 100 miles an hour again. I wanna go back to where I could wake up in the morning and lay in bed for as long as I please.

That Gavin Miller, he sure keeps me busy. I suppose that's only natural. But literally, he doesn't stop moving. You set him on the floor and take your eyes away for two seconds and he's moved about eight feet and his legs are wedged under the TV stand or something. This morning I commented to Dylan that Gavin and I were a mis-matched mother-son pair. I was not blessed with a lot of patience. Gavin requires someone who doesn't have their mind elsewhere or a burning desire to get things done all the time. (That's not me.) But I couldn't love him more.

Dylan, however, is perfect for G. His patience knows no bounds. I guess we all balance one another out very well around here, though some days I think we'd all be better off if I was the parent spending a substantial percentage of my nights out of town in a lonely hotel room. By the time Gavin has grown up a little and is more independent, I think we will have all learned many important life lessons and have come a very long way from our pre-baby days! In the last seven months, I can only say it's been the best of times and the worst of times. But the best times are what we'll remember the most, and for that it's completely worth it!

Well, here's what we've been up to in the last few days.

Denture face!

Sitting outside is a fail-proof way to keep him happy.

Gavin shares a room with his buddy, Drew, at daycare for naps. Drew's Grandma calls them college roommates. We had such a nice time relaxing on the lawn at the Civic Center library amongst the chaos of a million children. Here are the boys making some of their first of many memories to come!

Gavin and Drew at The Ultimate Playdate!

Loves the real grass. He probably ate some of it.

My little monkey.

Lounging on the patio.

Gavin turned 7 months old and that's about it. None too exciting for us, but we are living well!

Oh, and hey, I read this blog post on A Beautiful Mess, and this girl is just like me! It's comforting to know I'm not the only other person who's better half is on the road a lot. It's not something that ever gets easier. Sometimes a girl just needs to shop (or adopt a dog) to make herself feel better...I totally get it!
