Gavin Does Oregon

We just returned from our first time taking Gavin on an airplane. We are so lucky to have a pair of awesome cousins across the street, but less lucky that the other great pair (as well as all the other Millers) are a plane ride away in Oregon.

Gavin was not perfectly behaved on the plane. He gave out several of his loud screams, but we had no sustained crying, and for that I am thankful. On the way home, he even slept a little! But not before he put a giant turd in his diaper, and then he smelled up the plane for a while before Dylan could go and change him. Ha, oh well.

We had the nicest time with our Miller fam. Dylan fit in a lot of game-playing with his siblings, and I did my fair share of going to bed early. Gavin played with his cousins, and we even got outside quite a bit. We hardly saw a drop of rain, if you can believe that! On our last night, Dylan and I snuck out after putting G to bed to have dinner out and then soak in the hot tub. We don't get out much, so this was so exciting for us.

Shenanigans in the backyard skate bowl. Normal stuff.

Crawling in the (real) grass!

I'll take you for a ride on my big green tractor.

It takes a lot of people to feed this baby!

First time with toes in the sand!

He didn't exactly love his tiger headphones.

Upon returning to the sweltering temps of Phoenix, we booked it to the Scottsdale airport and made it in the nick of time to celebrate the retirement of the lead captain of Dylan's airplane, Russ. D had arranged a salute from the firefighters when the plane landed, and then we had a catered party in the hangar. Many, many thanks to my dear SIL for waiting for us at Landmark, then swapping cars and taking G home and putting him to bed.

Just flying the 605. No biggie.

The salute! So cool!

Hangar party

Now, G and I are a party of two around here for quite a while, but G promises to eat when he's supposed to eat, sleep until after I've had my breakfast in the morning, never turn over and try to crawl when I'm changing stinky diapers, never cry for reasons that I don't understand and generally just be very calm and quiet, and never get into things that he shouldn't be into. A perfect little sidekick. So, it should be pretty awesome!
