Long & Lean

Gavin had his check-up at the doctor yesterday, and everything checked out a-ok. He's still topping the charts for his height, but his weight has slipped to the 70-something percentile. Where these long and lean giant genetics come from is anybody's guess.

We rounded out the weekend much better than the last time I checked in here. We got out and about on Sunday and had some fun and even got together with friends across the street for a BBQ. Gavin devoured more than his fair share of watermelon and enjoyed sitting on the baby step in the pool. He's feeling much better, though he still has a hacking smoker's cough, which didn't concern the doctor a whole lot, so I'm not worried either.

I hit the job for an extra day this week because it's really a toss-up as to what's easier when Dylan's out of town: staying home or going into work. Plus, I have big plans for the extra spending money. (Baby-proofing...AKA my excuse to redecorate.) Gavin is turning into a serious monkey, and he's constantly into things that are breakable or dangerous, so I probably should have thought about this a long time ago.

He spends a lot of time in the high chair because, well, eating keeps him occupied and my hands free.

He also stays occupied climbing all over everything.

And throwing books and magazines everywhere.

Hello, everyone. Hi. Please smile at me.

Besides his monkey antics, he's also recently turned into a little flirt. We hit Target yesterday, which is just as much a treat to him as it is to me, and I caught various ladies smiling and saying hi in our direction. Which I thought was weird at first until I realized that Gavin was giving out flirtatious smiles up and down every aisle. He stared and smiled at the cashier for so long during check-out that it got mildly uncomfortable.

And that just about brings us up to speed. We are doing our best to not overheat while staying active and having fun. And we cannot wait for Dylan to come home from training. Eight nights seems like an eternity. I'm not completely exhausted, but I am tired of the heavy lifting. My arms and back are seriously sore from hauling our two-ton baby all over the place!
