I can veg out at home for a couple of hours like the best of them. But to spend an entire day without going anywhere? That's no fun. It makes me bonkers. But for this particular Saturday, it is what's best for us. Gavin started to have a runny nose on the day we flew home from our trip, which is not such a big deal since he's spent about half of his life with a runny nose due to teething or a cold or whatever else gives babies runny noses. But then yesterday he had a terrible day at Dawn's, and this morning he had an icky sounding cough, so I decided to call in sick to Blake's birthday party, and G and I are hunkering down on the home front.
In my mind, I keep thinking of ways that we could sneak off to the gym or get a few errands done. Then I remember that if I thought it was a bad idea to bring him to a birthday party, then it's probably not smart to put him in the nursery.

It's 100 degrees outside, so we won't be taking any walks or bike rides. But not to worry! Gavin has a baby pool, and that provided us a solid 20 minutes of entertainment earlier in the day. Things do seem to be looking better, and I've finally been able to set him down to crawl around without him throwing a tantrum. I even coaxed a smile out of him not too long ago.
I know I'll be glad that we stayed in so that G could nap in his crib. I've managed to get some chores done around the house...and I even turned on a movie, to which I've been able to give about 40% of my attention. It's The Secret Life of Bees. I like it. Now that I've accepted the fact that we're at home for the day, it makes coping with the situation so much easier. It seems that G is already feeling better, and I know we'll be back in business come tomorrow.
