Checking out the tree with Tuna |
He was obsessed |
I kicked off the weekend at Phx Flea with Amanda and Sam. It's fun to visit all the vendors and see all the local handmade stuff, but really we were all just there to eat at Pizzeria Bianco afterward. I bought a couple of baby hats at the market because when I saw them, I realized that last time I had a summer baby, so we may be just a little short in the hat department. Plus, they were so cute.
It was off to work for Dylan for Sunday and Monday, leaving G and me to our own devices. We kept it simple and hung around here. We played out front, walked the dogs, fed the neighbor horse and visited with my mom while she was in the neighborhood. Then Gavin attempted a nap, and after an hour and a half he was still awake so I went in to get him. It was then that I realized the contents of his dirty diaper spread from end to end across the sheet and all over his blankets. This has happened once or twice before...the only difference was that Dylan was home to reach into the crib and get the mattress off the floor so that I could wash up. With my belly in the way, I can't even get close. But, I knew I had to get creative, so I stood sideways on a stool next to the crib and swung one leg in and then was able to grasp a corner of the mattress and eventually pull it up. It was a whole situation. I should have recorded it. The important thing is that everything (and everyone) eventually got cleaned up, so we carried on with our day by visiting the neighborhood park and stopping at Safeway.
The living was easy on Sunday. A little boring...but easy. |
After G went down at night, I got busy in the kitchen. I put my third and final meal (enchiladas!) in the freezer for after baby arrives, and then I made the dough for sugar cookies to get in the fridge. My mom found herself in the area again today and grabbed Gavin on her way home. What a gift. You can't possibly understand the luxury of being alone in your own home. (I'm sure that actually, you probably can understand this, but I was just trying to make a point.) It got me all fired up making a list of the things I wanted to accomplish while I was here alone. I snagged some Cyber Monday deals on a few Christmas gifts, worked on my paper, reassembled the baby things I had taken apart to wash, got the bottles down, fixed Gavin's lunch for tomorrow...and before I get those cookies in the oven to decorate for tonight, I'm hoping to fit in a walk and a (peaceful) shower. Not bad for just a few hours!
On that note, I'd better wrap this up and make the best use of this time!
