We've had a busy few days over here, running around town, catching up on things and doing what we do. But I'll rewind to the weekend where I captured actual footage of our activities. Dylan made it home late on Friday, and Gavin was so happy to have him there in the morning. We carried on with our new tradition of getting donuts and going to the park when Dylan gets home from a trip. I have a feeling this will be an easy tradition to sustain. We ended the day on Saturday with burgers on the grill, and Gavin got to run around with his cousins a little bit. We're all about the health food around here.
On Sunday, we made the very long trek to Luke AFB for the air show. Gavin, who typically never naps, ran out of steam a few hours in, so we didn't last long. It was for the best, as Graham was just finishing up his nap in the carrier and getting ready for a change of pace, too. While we were there we saw some cool planes and a really neat show, and it was, of course, right up Dylan's alley.
Other highlights from the week include Graham giving me the gift of another long nap at the gym so that I could both work out AND shower. Gavin has taken a liking to the childcare, and he almost doesn't want to leave when I go back for him. This gym thing may work out after all, thank goodness. Also, Graham took a bottle both today AND yesterday, giving me the freedom to have a happy hour last night and then go out with Gavin this morning. Because of the way things worked out with this little guy, and to nobody's fault, I've provided Graham with 97.5% of his meals, diaper changes and everything else he needs. I've rarely been away from him for more than a couple hours. I'm exhausted, and I'm starting to lose it. But, slowly, we're starting to make some changes. Dylan's busier than he's ever been. When he's not traveling, he's off somewhere working on something, and when he's at home, he's answering phone calls nonstop and constantly plugged into something. He's doing a great job doing what he does, but now that we have this bottle situation figured out, I might enforce some time-outs for him to do some Graham duty in order to make us all a little more well-rounded.

He picked out this boring donut all himself. |

Monday morning. Dylan bought us these shirts shortly after Gavin turned 1. I was so excited for him to finally grow into it. |

In much sadder news, I received word that a friend from high school passed away over the weekend. Normally I wouldn't write about something like this, but most of the fondest memories of my life were from those four years at Saguaro, and Bryan was in so many of those memories. Ski trips, our senior Europe trip, and too many nights running around town with our friends over the years. It was so much fun. I hadn't kept in touch with Bryan over the years, but I did bump into him probably 6 months or so ago with his mom, who had always graciously hosted the group of us at her house to horse around like a bunch of idiots back in the day. It seems so strange, but it makes me feel better that I at least recently saw him and spoke with him briefly. This is the kind of news you never want to hear, and it's very much left me shaken. Bryan, you are remembered by everyone as one of the kindest people we've ever known. Your life ended too soon, but not before you made an impact on those who knew you. You were one of the good ones. Thanks for the good times, my friend.
