Family of Four

All of a sudden the weekend was upon us, and lo and behold, we hadn't much on the agenda. We've never been super busy people, but the pace has picked up for the last few months. So, this was a welcome change. Especially because, although D clocked a few hours on the job from home, we had all four of us together.

The weekend actually began on Friday for us, and it usually does. I LOVE that. We decided to tackle some home improvement with the free time and hang the new ceiling fan that has been sitting in a box in the entryway for months now. I was so used to having it around; it was like a new fixture in our home. It turned out to be a more time consuming and labor intensive job than I had imagined, and we had some errands to run in the afternoon, so it was the only item I could cross off the the home improvement to-do list. But the fan looks and works great, so I'm pleased as punch. The last five or six items on the list should be simpler jobs, so in a few months or years when we have the time and manpower yet again, we can go ahead and tackle those.

Saturday started with a morning class at the gym for me. On Thursday, the childcare attendants came and got me about 10 minutes early from my class because Graham had been crying, which was no big deal. Actually, I expected much worse. Anyway, it was optimal for me to leave the boys at home and head out on my own. In my opinion, a workout is the best way to start a Saturday, and I was happy to be kicking off the best day of the week with a win. We headed to the Scottsdale Quarter in the afternoon, but not before driving thru In 'n Out. It was a nice outing, and the boys were great until they'd had enough. It doesn't take long for them, but our hopes weren't incredibly high. We had our picnic, Gavin splashed for a little while, Dylan browsed the Apple Store and Graham remained content in the stroller for much of the time. The temperature was perfect, and we were a happy bunch.

All I've wanted since Mother's Day was a good picture of me and my boys, but this one wasn't going to work.

This definitely wasn't the money shot

We finally got a good photo, but the camera was in slo-mo video mode. Doh. So I'll have to accept a low-quality screen shot for now.

Sunday morning started with a bang when Dylan cooked up waffles for everyone in the neighborhood except for himself in his true selfless fashion. (He's off wheat for right now.) Then we divided and conquered, as we usually do. Graham and I headed to a class at Babymoon to teach us how to feed him whole hunks of food without choking (baby purees begone!) and Dylan and Gavin did a make-up swim class. After that, it was fun to the maximum for the boys in the neighborhood. Bike rides, rhino rides and hanging out at the river before we all congregated for dinner on the grill. I enjoyed the peace and quiet in our house while Graham and I hung out and took care of some chores. And here it is, Monday morning, and we are back to our version of "the grind."

Graham figured out how to jump like crazy in this thing, which should buy me like 15 more minutes per day. I'll take it.
The next several weekends should shape up quite differently than this, but we are ready to let the good times keep on rolling.
