I know the weather is getting nicer out here, but sunshine and mid-90s all week is not exactly perfection. The sunshine is exhausting by this time of year, and the heat is worse. So, when we landed in Portland on Thursday, I was not at all upset by the cool temps and rain. The weather stuck around for most of the weekend!
We drove to Tess's house upon our arrival in PDX, got our boys settled, had a bite to eat, and then hit the road for Seattle. We were at our typical downtown Courtyard by 10pm. Not too bad! Then, it was meetings all weekend for D and me, while G&G had a blast with Tess, Miki, Uncle Jace, and the grandparents. Cody and Abby's family even came up to visit on Saturday, so basically Dylan and I were the only ones missing. I received a report that the boys were very good and everyone had fun, which made me very, very happy. Graham was up a little earlier than anyone would have liked, but with lots of helpers on rotation, it seemed like people were able to catch some naps here and there. I am so happy the boys had this opportunity to spend QT with our Oregon family, and I am super grateful they were up for the challenge. Everyone had to rearrange commitments and put in a good deal of effort to help us out, and they were happy to do it. Gotta love family. Thanks again, guys! You all rock!

I like that Graham naps. It sure is nice of him to give us that break. |

It was a long day for this guy, but he did pretty good! |
It wasn't all business for D and me. We had some time to catch up with some cousins and, of course, ate very good food. To sit in meetings and listen to very smart people talk about important things, and chime in very infrequently here and there, is not work at all for me. I very much enjoyed being an adult. Sleeping in a childless hotel room for two nights was just an extra perk!
The boys did as good as two small kids can do on the airplane. I'm so glad that we can dominate an entire row now, and it won't be long before you'll find us all aboard another flight to PDX. Next time, D and I will stick with everyone else for some Miller family fun!
