Unloaded!

I'll make this short and sweet. I thought life would feel a little slower by this time, but who am I kidding? December is not slow for anybody.  It's been great having Dylan around, and I've become the B-List parent because he is way more fun. But that's okay for now...I'm appreciating little bursts of space from all the noise and chaos that goes on all day long around here. It was a rare QT day with D all day today. Not bad for a Wednesday!

We've got a happy hour behind us and a holiday musical ahead of us. After that, it's one roly poly 100% adorable little guy's first birthday! And in-between that, we've got some work, Christmas festivities, gift shopping/wrapping, and crafting. I still haven't made much progress on those darn Christmas cards, which is disappointing because I could get those things addressed, stuffed and stamped in no time in years past. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. It's holiday parties galore around here, and as a person who is typically pretty mellow, I'm having a hard time getting caught up after traveling the last two weeks and getting my ducks in a row for the parties and fun ahead. So, if you don't hear from me in a while, it's because I'm drowning in a sea of activity. Don't come looking for me.

But the best thing of all? We have officially unloaded the condo! I won't pretend that we didn't fall into the 2007 trap that left us in a buy high, sell low situation. But...that little piece of real estate has been a drain on our finances, energy and morale for the last decade, and getting it out of our lives is definitely something to celebrate. We were able to pocket a little bit of change from the sale. If everything goes my way, we can put it toward moving somewhere...anywhere...that isn't completely stupidly far away. (Can you tell I'm fed up with the time and energy involved in this commute? It only took me seven years...)

Off to Zinburger to celebrate! Don't mind my gym hair.

Everyone's crazy for Dad

We hadn't thought about what we'd do with our little guys while we signed papers at the title agency, but luckily my mom stepped in at the last minute and took over for a few hours. We even snuck in a lunch at the Scottsdale Quarter!

In other positive news, after a few stressful and tiring months of a horrible attitude from our dear 3-year-old boy, I'm finally starting to see some progress. He's happy and energetic, and he's eating again! He's back to saying and singing the most hilarious things that leave me wondering where in the world he gets his material. I don't know if it was because he was sick forever and ever or because of our crazy travel schedule or because his Dad was gone most nights. (I'm seeing a direct correlation with the Dad Factor, so we'll go with that.) Anyway, I'm elated and relieved that every single thing we do isn't an emotional and sometimes physical struggle. Remember on his third birthday when I wrote about what a sweet little boy he had become, and how I was hoping everyone was wrong about what they said about 3-year-olds? Yeah, they weren't wrong. Age 3 is a beast!! But I'm hoping Sweet Gavin will be the new normal.
