Ah, it feels so good to feel good. Dylan and I just returned from a few days in Puerto Vallarta, and it was a vacation that we both desperately needed. It all came together just by chance. Originally Dylan was going to fly there for work, and I was going to meet him. But when the trip cancelled, Dylan, who is typically tethered pretty close to Scottsdale at all times, reasoned with the boss man to get a few days away.
I didn't really give this trip much thought leading up to it. It really snuck up on me. Then I was so uptight and running around like crazy with pre-trip anxiety that I was kind of in a foul mood on the morning that we left town. Then all of a sudden, we were in our hotel room with a drink in hand, and I felt a sort of relaxation that I hadn't known in such a long time. We just ate, drank, and sat around lazily poolside or at the beach for two and a half days. With three exceptions: 1) A massage at the spa, 2) A taxi ride into town one night to have dinner and walk around the waterfront, and 3) The most amazing outing on our last night- a boat ride to a secluded area that was fully lit by candles and torches for dinner and a show. It was so cool!

Feeling pretty proud of myself about something...maybe the fact that I'm holding a drink and actually chilling out. |

Dylan didn't make fun of me when I spent $15 on a printed 5x7 of us taken on our dinner excursion. Now that's true love. |
I realize that being a new mom can be really stressful, but my nerves were far more rattled than I'd ever expected they'd become. I'd lost a lot of perspective without even realizing it. I've been living in a hole for far too long, and it did me a world of good to just poke my head out and remind myself to not let life pass me by while I run around in a tizzy.
A huge shout out to Gavin's Nonna and Papa for taking him while we were gone! He loves being at their house. He slept through the entire night all three nights, which is better than how he sleeps in his own crib at home (unfortunately for us). Maybe he's learning to relax a little too, and we're hoping it's a pattern that sticks. He's going on 12 straight hours right now...so far, so good.
AWESOME. So glad you had a fun and were able to relax :)
