We Were Not Missed

The boys are going on their fourth night with my parents, and I'm pretty sure they haven't missed us at all. Which makes me very happy. When you are away from your kids, it is nice to get a break. But it's super-duper awesome when you know they're well-cared for and having a great time. All in all, it was a great weekend for everyone. I'll follow with a post of what D and I have been up to, but here are some select photos from the incoming stream sent by my mom throughout the weekend.

Graham had an extra day with Nonna on Thursday while I was at work because he had been fighting croup all week. Gavin joined up after school, and they were off on their first adventure. Ice cream and the dollar store! The next day, they all headed up to the cabin, where they fished, caught crawdads, hunted for bugs, went for ice cream, played on the playground and in the family center and...Gavin's favorite, shopped for his birthday presents. I'm pretty sure they bought all the Legos in Show Low, plus some more stuff.

My only photo from the past week on my own with the boys. A clothing-optional joyride around the neighborhood. Possibly everyone's highlight. It was a lame week.

Graham's solo time with Nonna.

Meet me at DQ!

Super Nonna!

The cabin also has a pretty awesome Family Center!

Upon returning to Scottsdale, Gavin got to out to birthday dinner with Graham and my parents, with a special surprise visit from his cousins. So special!

Happy early birthday to G!

A sucker from his cousin. So sweet!

G is eclipse-ready!

I'm excited to reunite with my boys after I finish up work tomorrow morning, but I think these few days apart were good for us. I'm pretty sure all parties involved were thankful for this past weekend. I can't remember the last time I spent a night kid-free, and heaven knows I needed it. Time apart makes me a better mom, and I think a lot of people could probably agree with that. Instead of streaming the Lego Movie two times in a row next time we're home for an afternoon, I might actually have the stamina to sit and engage with my kids now that I feel refreshed. Millions and billions of thanks to my parents for taking on these boys for such a long time. It's not easy, but they are happy to do it and actually really enjoy it. I am so grateful.
