A Very Good Day

Yesterday was not perfect, but it was okay. Today was much, much better. Yesterday, the pediatrician told us that Gavin was still underweight, and he has to go back again next week. He checked out fine physically, and deep down I knew that everything was okay. Afterward, we visited my mom with a cranky baby and then Alex and Amy came over for a visit at night. It was busy and tiring, but it was great to get out and see people.

Today was spent at home while Dylan was at work. My mom came over early and stayed with me all day. She cleaned up around here while Baby G and I took a little rest, and it made such a huge difference. She also stayed very persistent with her camera and captured some fantastic shots of Gavin. Finally. The little stinker has not made our efforts with photography very easy, but I think now we have many options to choose from to call his 'newborn pictures.' Success...just one day shy of the 2-week-old mark, which was what I had hoped to accomplish. Supermom, thanks so much! Furthermore, I spoke to an awesome lactation consultant who gave me a different opinion on Gavin's weight issue that made me feel almost 100% reassured that we are on the right track with feeding and nursing and that it will all be fine. Lastly, my leg seems to slowly be getting better every day. I am going to do a test drive tomorrow around the neighborhood to make sure it's safe for me to get behind the wheel again, and I even feel comfortable carrying the baby short distances that don't involve bending down. It's all coming around.

Checking out my big cousins' chair.

And the cherry on top? Dylan made it home from work very early. He stopped by the grocery store to get me some goods to do some cooking and baking tomorrow, which is one of the things that I used to do frequently when I had time at home and that I miss so much. Baby G is resting comfortably until he needs to eat again, and I've stolen a moment to myself to enjoy a beer and blog, two of my most favorite things! To appreciate something this small so much really opens up my eyes to how much my world has changed...

So peaceful in the morning.

Loving the shaky chair

If I were to have read something like this prior to being a mom I would have yawned so big and navigated away from this blog before I finished the first paragraph. So, thanks for sticking with me. As a payoff, we are doing something outside of the house with friends this weekend, so stay tuned for some more diverse material!
