Gavin's Big Adventure

Gavin took his first road trip on Sunday to Prescott to watch Sunday Football at the Hylands' house. We didn't hear a peep out of him on the way there or the way back. He and I just chilled in the backseat while Dylan and Chris talked about airplanes up front.

I wore Baby G in a Moby Wrap during the get together, which is really weird looking and very cumbersome...but very effective in keeping a tiny baby calm and quiet. We had fun visiting with our Prescott friends, enjoying some awesome food, and cooling down in the rain.

On the way home from Prescott we stopped at Walgreens', and then I took the wheel for the way home and did just fine! I've been released to drive, and so today Gavin and I painted the town. First stop, the pediatrician, where G received an A+ for his health. Finally! He had gained 7 ounces since Thursday and the doctor was quite pleased. As was I. I'm so glad I don't feel like I need to force-feed the poor little gentleman all day long. We can all be a little more relaxed now when it comes to eating.

Afterward, we went to my parents' house and laid on the couch like lazy bums before heading to Kierland so G could crash a ladies' happy hour. He was the center of attention and was passed around from aunt to aunt to aunt before it was time to head home.

All zonked out...again.

I feel so freed now that I can drive, but I'm not out of the woods yet. I embarked on my first trip up a flight of stairs today and completely failed and had to turn around and take the elevator. But it still hasn't gotten me too down...I'm hanging in there. I made a big list to head to Wal-Mart, Petsmart, Fry's and Old Navy tomorrow with my newfound freedom. Then I decided that was a little over-ambitious and that my house could use some TLC after two long days out...so homebound are we. I plan to fit in a walk (if the rain lets up) and a nap. I've not been good about leaving a mess so that I could fit in a nap like I told myself I would do. Life is oh so adventurous these days...
