The Polarizing Debate

Christmas before Thanksgiving? I think I've written about it in years past. I've never met a person who feels neutral about this issue. And every year, around November 1st, I hear arguments both for and against. I'll tell you that my dear sis-in-law and I are IN FAVOR!

Our husbands...not as much (or at all). But they leave us alone a lot, and they have to expect we will cause a little bit of trouble while they're away. And this month it is in the form of Christmas decorations. They've been popping up slowly in both houses.

I begged Dylan to haul in our Christmas tree, to which he adamantly replied no. I think I'll have trouble finding someone to help me bring in a two-ton fake Christmas tree from the garage, and also erect (haha) it for me, so I'll have to let that one rest. Christmas tree decorating is for the weekend after Thanksgiving in this house, I guess.

But the rest of the stuff is not too big or heavy for me! As far as I see it, the holidays evoke feelings of warmth, comfort, family, and happiness. What is wrong with feeling that way a few weeks in advance? A few pumpkin and pilgrim decorations don't really do it for me, so I'm forced to bring out the big guns. I see Thanksgiving/Christmas as a package deal. I love them both. It's not slighting Thanksgiving, it's just part of the warmth/family/happiness bundle of fall and early winter. And I'd say anyone who has fallen for the pumpin-flavored craze (that's me!) of recent years is equally as guilty as the rest of us early decorators. So I will listen to the music, see the sights, and smell the scents that make me feel good as the weather cools down (finally!) and the best time of year approaches. And you?
