1 Week = 7 Days

We came home from Seattle at this time last week, and Dylan has been at home with us ever since! I'm sure he's been home for a week straight at some other time in the recent past, but I just don't recall. It's been real awesome. Everything is so much easier when he's at home. He's quickly turning into Gavin's favorite parent, which makes sense because he's not nearly as uptight about everything as I am. Also, he's been enlisted to get up with G on those occasions when G doesn't quite make it to what would be an acceptable hour in the morning so that I can get uninterrupted rest before work (or a day off...all the same). In exchange, I get up with Gavin when he's up and at 'em around 6:30 while Dylan grabs the remainder of his Zzzzs for a couple more hours. Dylan also freed me up to go to happy hour on Thursday night. It's pretty refreshing to grab a glass of wine and gab with the ladies for a couple hours, and times like this have become too few and far in-between. But, just like my old self, I did get a tad jealous when I was at work, Gavin was at day care, and Dylan was...at home. But Dylan is good at running errands and crossing things off of to-do lists, which makes my life easier, and then in my typical fashion I just bought a pair of Nikes or something to make myself feel better, and everybody came out a winner.

Just two cousins hanging out on the driveway.

Saturday on the trail

We rounded out the week with a fantastic weekend. My mom came over on Saturday while my dad was golfing, and she hung with Gavin while Dylan and I ventured over to the preserve to hike the Granite Mountain Loop. How cool that we live so close to all the new trailheads! It was a 5.75 mile hike, but it was really flat, so it was pretty easy. The breeze was cool, and it was just a perfect time. On Sunday, I gathered all the troops (Gavin, Joe, and Ramona) for a long walk, and then we packed it up and went to Old Town for the free outdoor concert at the Civic Center Mall. My parents met us there, and we grabbed a bite to eat at The Blue Moose before trekking back north. I had the luxury of viewing The Pioneer Woman's Food Network show earlier in the day, and I was inspired to cook one of her recipes for dinner, so we hit up Fry's on the way home. The dinner was a major success!

Raising the roof.

All in all it was a pretty awesome weekend. The only downfall was that Gavin pooped through his outfit on the way to the Civic Center. Not to worry because I packed an extra outfit, right? Except that the pants in my diaper bag were size 3 months, and he's typically a 9 to 12-monther. So he was out in public wearing a baseball hat, short sleeve onesie, and furry boots. Time to update his back-up wardrobe.
