Happy Earth Day!

What have you done to celebrate? Personally, I took a ton of grocery sacks to Safeway to recycle. Mostly because they've been filling up my trunk for the last two weeks and I just happened to stop by Safeway today. I also made a silent resolution to never forget my reusable grocery sacks when I go to the store (which is a resolution I'm sure I'll continue to break) and also to find out if I could support any type of legislation toward banning plastic grocery sacks. Because they're awful.

And now I'm working on this massive decluttering project before our professional cleaners show up on Thursday. I'm sure they'll remove no less than 27 pounds of dust from just the fan blades alone. Ugh, our house is so gross, but I will feel so liberated when I come home to a squeaky clean place. I always shunned the idea of hiring someone to clean the house until I felt like I never had time anymore to do the things that I enjoy. It's expensive, but as Dylan says, it's just buying time. Time is a precious and finite resource...I'm happy to pay for it! Also, I'm as bad at cleaning as I am at doing hair and make-up. Yeah, this is necessary.

But back to Earth Day. I read this great article about five ethical fashion companies, and I fell in love with a pair of sandals. I'll have to wait, though, since I've already blown through my self-imposed shopping budget for the time being. Check it out: Fashionably Informed. I've read that our generation views clothing as disposable, and there are countless problems with that, including creating excess waste...not to mention the conditions in the sweat shops overseas. I'm as guilty as the next person, but I will make a conscious effort to buy more eco-friendly (and person-friendly) longer-lasting goods from now on!

Happy Earth Day! Let's do what we can to keep this Earth healthy. That's my hippie rant for now, and I'm sure I'll be back soon with a plethora of photographs of my progeny.
