On Friday I played hooky from work and Dylan managed to secure a day off. This is very rare. Gavin, however, was back at the grind at Dawn's. For us...it was our 5th Anniversary! It started out great and ended that way, too. As Dylan departed on the 60-mile round trip drive to bring G to Dawn's in the morning, I laid in bed and caught up on The Middle and Modern Family. This used to be my normal on a day off, but a completely foreign experience to me now. It was glorious.
When he got home, we departed on a solid 3-hour bike ride. 20 miles...a record for me! It was so so so so so so fun. After showering, we departed for a late lunch, but not before Dylan gave me my gift. A card with some very sweet things to say, including calling me "his most treasured romantic associate" and a $5 bill...for 5 years. Always the comedian. But also a hand-carved wooden jewelry box. Five years is for wood, yes? So pretty, and so thoughtful! I also have a gift on the way for him. This anniversary thing is not completely one-sided, of course. It's just that I bought the gift on a Mother's Day sale, so it will at least be here before then. Anyhow, lunch was at Ra in Old Town, followed by smoothies, and then we scooped up our boy-child and had a normal night at home.

Dylan is the fun parent...and the one with inherent patience. This is why we miss him so much when he leaves! |

Not too shabby! |
Saturday brought us to Prescott for little Presley's first birthday party. It was nice to get the heck out of here on the first 100-degree day of the year. We sat in the shade outside and the weather was perfectly pleasant on the top of the hill. We hadn't seen some of our friends up there in a very long time. It was great catching up and remarking on how quickly all of the babies had grown. But I think Gavin won for being the biggest tank of a baby at the party. No surprises there.

And now Gavin and I are in for a pretty normal day while Dylan takes to the friendly skies, as is usual for our weekend. Probably hitting the gym. Maybe some shopping. I have some big ideas for redecorating our house. Sometimes it can be expensive for Dylan to leave us unsupervised.
