H-O-M-E

For a person who said throwing a first birthday party for someone who would never know the difference is crazy...well, I'm sure spending a lot of time gathering craft ideas and buying party supplies. It's the whole family that's celebrating, after all. That's my excuse, anyway.

This morning has been the best. Last night I said that if I slept well and woke up early enough, then I'd get to the gym for a 6:30 boot camp. I did sleep well, and I was awake at 5:20...but I didn't make it out of bed till ol' G came calling at 6:20. It was glorious. The gym can wait for later. We are all at home, and Gavin is in a relatively sweet mood, and it is heavenly. We've had some fun with the baby, and I've done some party prep. I've got a lot of work to do around here since I haven't spent a good amount of time in our house in quite a while, so I think we will stay put. Last week at this time, I was wishing I was working. Today, there's no place I'd rather be than right where I am.

Crawling in the gravel. Looks comfortable.

It rained, so the first order of business was to play in the mud!

Cars, quiche, and watermelon. How could a boy not be happy?

Here are a couple of tidbits I'd like to share. First this exercise, called All the S*** We Do, for everyone who feels exhausted by the end of the day. I, myself, didn't actually complete this exercise. I do feel a little over-extended, but generally I just feel like I can't get everything done because I'd rather go to bed early. Also, I don't think this exercise would be constructive in my household. But I think it's an interesting read and potentially helpful to some people. Also, I made these Blueberry Bran Muffins. They were easy, they taste great and not too sweet, they are relatively healthy (no sugar, just honey), and they're a perfect breakfast snack. We've almost gone through the whole batch in just a few days.

And then I have a question for you. I keep toying with the idea of going to yoga, but I'm a weenie and I'm afraid to try new things by myself. I think I'd feel better if I could show up with a yoga mat that's not obviously from Target...something that's "legit." I don't think I need to go Lululemon quite yet...or maybe I do? Any suggestions? (Jersey, are you reading this??)

Hooray for second-weekend and tata for now.

  2. Yes, let's do it! My Target mat has a hideous bamboo design on it...is that still ok?
