What the What?

Gavin and I are adjusting our schedule for the day, as we had a bit of a monkey wrench thrown into our plans. I awoke to Dylan putting on a pair of work pants, which really confused my brain. First I thought, Oh no, it's a work day and I'm still asleep at 6. Doh! Then I was like, Oh yeah, I'm not working and I must've known he was flying today. Then, finally, I said (out loud), What the ****, are you flying today?! Ding ding ding. And bummer.

Somewhere in between the time we fell asleep and when the sun came up, Dylan's plane was assigned a charter to New York and back. If you've flown to New York from here, you'll know this involves about 10 hours of flying in total. Ugh, poor G and me, but even more so...poor Dylan. I found this news to be less than ideal given that we were going to have a day of family fun, but not detrimental, as we had no pressing appointments. But still... So lame.

So, here we are enjoying our breakfast, and little G has been a true delight the last few days. I am very much looking forward to this day with him. Nevermind we have an excessive heat warning in effect with a high of 113, I'm still thinking of busting out of here. Maybe a gym and pool day with a side of errands? Perhaps a road trip to the Children's Museum? Only time, and G's preferred nap schedule for the day, will tell.

On the brighter side of things, though Dylan flew to Idaho and back yesterday, he was home by 2pm, and we still had a fun little afternoon. We topped off the night with a swim party at my parent's house with a bunch of cousins and their kids. Eight kids in total, nine if you count the one the way, and can you guess how many of those kids were girls? ZERO. We are definitely a boy-heavy family, and we love it. Thanks mom for your party-prep and dinner. I had so much fun seeing my family!

Dinner at Nello's on Monday night for Papa's birthday. Happy birthday to my dad!

Part-Sweet Boy/Part-Nightmare at dinner

Playing in the trash while I work on a project. Fine by me, as long as he doesn't eat it. (And he usually does.)

Watching nursery rhyme videos before nap time. I've discovered a new love in YouTube.

Lounging poolside with a pizza crust.

Eating THE WHOLE THING

Protecting the house on morning watch.

As far as second weekends go, I wouldn't call this a bad one, though we will miss Dylan a lot today! Dawn and Jim are on a very well-deserved vacation this week, so Gavin is getting some extra special time with Dylan and my parents, and barring any midnight charters that might show up, G and D will have the day together tomorrow!
