It was one of those weeks where I woke up on Saturday feeling SO glad it was Saturday and that the work week was behind me. We had a great couple days with Gavin on Tuesday and Wednesday, and I was ready for some more fun. Dylan usually flies on weekends, and this one was no exception. But he was only gone on Sunday, and we had enough fun around his trip to make it an overall great weekend!
Saturday was spent getting caught up at home. (See previous post.) I snuck out to the gym in the morning and sneakily brought my iPad so I could stay late and check out the Nordstrom Anniversary sale online uninterrupted while enjoying an after-workout snack. It was a fruitful experience...here's to hoping I send back at least one or two of the items that should be showing up on my doorstep soon.
Sink baby!
What the Sam Hill is going on here?
More smoothie please!
Naked man escapes mid-diaper change
Tweedle-dumb and Tweedle-dumber. I love these dogs, but they are not smart.
Dancing to the music.
That night, we met the Jordans for happy hour. Gavin chose to be on his worst behavior, which made it difficult to have meaningful conversation, but all in all, I'm glad we got out to see our friends and enjoy a couple of beers. I think G could learn a thing or two from Baby Luke who sat peacefully eating his Cheerios and not making any sort of disruption the whole time.
Sitting still is just not Gavin's forte. Likewise, high energy activities and action make him supremely happy. After seeing Dylan off for a day trip this morning, we loaded into the Palmers' Sequoia and headed toward Baby Max's 3rd birthday party for a morning of gymnastics. All the kids had a great time, and I think Gavin honestly had the best time of his entire life. He crawled and rolled everywhere, watched the big kids, danced to the music, and his favorite thing...JUMPED! He was yawning the whole way there but had too much fun watching his big cousins, so he skipped a morning nap. No problems there...he got in on the action and forgot about his fatigue right away. The only time he laughs as hard as he did jumping on the trampoline is when Dylan throws him in the air and rough-houses him. Happy Birthday Max, and many thanks to the Probstfelds for having us at the gym party!
So much space to play and MOVE!
I had just as much fun...and was just as tired afterward
...and, flip! (Just kidding.)
Gavin was much too busy to sit still for a group photo.
Pardon my nerdiness in video below.
Needless to say, he went down for a nap as soon as we got home. But when he got up, we packed it up again and headed toward the airport to see Dylan and crew land and meet them out on the ramp. Gavin had fun watching the airplanes while we waited and was so happy to see his dad. We are all exhausted but ready to make it a great week!
Here they come!
Eating his foot, waiting for the plane to arrive.
Playing in the recycle bin with his blue hose strung over his arm. Whatever keeps him happy.
On a side note, I squeezed Gavin into a one-piece outfit this morning, size 18 months. He crawled around for a few minutes and all the snaps in the crotch popped open because he was too big for it. I guess we're ready for size 2T? If I wasn't the person providing all the meals to him, I'd have to wonder what he was being fed.
