A Go-Go-Go Week

It's been a whirlwind week, but so much fun. I only clocked into the job for two days, leaving three to partake in the festivities. Dylan got an early start on Monday and headed to the FanFest at Fashion Square for the live ESPN broadcast, where he was featured in the background of several shows. On Tuesday, we headed out to the TPC for the practice round, and surprisingly a ton of people were already there. Our friend, Michael, was playing this year, and so we hung out with him and got to go inside the ropes at the driving range, which made me feel extra cool. Then we left and had lunch, picked up Gavin, and returned back to the TPC. We followed the PGA wives charity tournament to cheer on Team Seahawks, which was great except that after firing off one diaper missile and getting a change on the green (don't worry, we had a mat and nobody could see), Gavin had a repeat occurrence a few minutes later. Which drew a lot of negative attention when we got on the packed bus back to the car with our smelly little guy.

I kicked off Wednesday with a bike ride, then all three of us loaded up and hit Downtown Phoenix for the opening of Super Bowl Central. This may have been one of my most favorite days of the week. The rock wall was cool and so was the free pizza from Papa John's and the iced chai tea latte from Keurig. But the real kicker was the media round-up. First, Dylan was interviewed after climbing the Grand Canyon Experience, which was broadcasted that day on Fox 10 at 5pm. Then, I got up close and personal with my most favorite crew...Matt and Tram on EVB Live. Big names and A-listers? Nah, not for me. But I sure do love the folks on 12 News...morning and evening. I had an interview with Matt which was featured on AZCentral, and I snapped a picture with Tram. Whenever we go to the Scottsdale Quarter, I always peek into Press Coffee to see if Tram is there since she and her husband own it. It's never produced results for me. But, she was incredibly friendly and gracious when I met her in Downtown Phoenix, and when Dylan took our picture he said, "Say Press Coffee!" Tram loved that. Then, I found my password to the social media platform that I use the least, Twitter, and tagged Tram in our photo. Which then lead to her commenting on and subsequently re-tweeting my tweet, and now basically we are besties. So that is that.

A family photo with our little girl, compliments of our friends at Univision. (Poor Gavin, the glittery bow was the nearest prop for him)

Dylan made it to the top of the Grand Canyon Experience!

He did so great that he got on the news.

Even Gavin enjoyed this adventure.

Ridiculously excited about this.

I did not make it to the top

Thursday for me was a day at work and an evening with Gavin, which translated to a day at the Open and an evening enjoying a beer and wings at Zipp's for Dylan. Not fair, but not much is in life, right? So, I'll move onto Friday, which I had put on the calendar weeks ago to claim the day off of work. It was cold and rainy, but that didn't stop us, the Superfans of Michael Putnam. We followed him for 17 of his 18 holes, and he made the cut! I learned that Hunter boots, while excellent at keeping one's feet dry in inclement weather, are not great for the 5 or 6 mile golf course walk. Also, I made the realization that I've officially become old now that I A) dress solely for comfort at the Phoenix Open, and B) could care less about free food and drinks...or any food or drinks for that matter...and would actually prefer to watch the golf and not consume any alcohol. We made the trek on foot to the car as the lines for the bus were a mile long, then changed out of our wet clothes, had some lunch and retrieved Gavin from Dawn's house.

And the fun did not stop there. On Saturday, I tagged along with Kristin, Max and Jojo and Ubered to the tournament to watch Michael on the front nine. He finished five under par! I'm not much for sports, but for some reason I do love watching golf. Maybe it was the drunk frat boys using the muddy, grassy hills as a slip 'n slide that I found to be so entertaining...but I think it was actually the golf that I enjoyed so much. Afterward I met Dylan and Gavin at Kierland to get Dylan a fancy outfit. He had big plans for the night.

Somehow, I hardly got any pictures from the WM Phoenix Open, which was probably because I was too afraid of having my phone confiscated, but here's what I got.

D dropped G at Nonna and Papa's house, then we rendezvoused back at home, where I put on pajamas, slippers and a very attractive dressing gown, and Dylan, Max, Kristin, and Geoff put on their finest attire for the Maxim Super Bowl party. The party was being in held in Max's plane's hangar...hence the "in" to the party. While they had a night ahead of celebrity watching and an overall over-the-top party, I was in for a night of eating casseroles at Patti's pajama & casserole party. Definitely the better of the two parties. I snuggled into the bunk bed in the kids room back at my parents' house some time after midnight while everyone slept else slept here, there, and everywhere, and here we are today. Moving a little slowly, but a-OK.

Bellies full of junk food and very comfortable in our pajamas. A great way to spend a Saturday night.

A rather unimpressive view of the fog over Phoenix. It had just lifted as G and I were driving through Fountain Hills this morning so I pulled into the scenic overlook to take a photo. It was a sight to behold in real life, though not so much here.

Today, Dylan did some strategic planning so that he could watch the entire Super Bowl without having to miss the end to get to the airport in time for a post-game flight to Florida. I've been on G-duty all day, which has been nice because I've missed him lately! We kept it low-key for the big game and visited with family and friends and ate pizza until Gavin's bath time. (Bummer about that terrible play...) As fun and exhilarating as this week has been, I'm glad to usher out the festivities and the people that came with them. I'm over the traffic, and I'm tired. It's been such a good time, but normal life at our normal pace will be great too!

Spent a couple hours outside in the perfect weather during a weird power outage.

Kids table for the Super Bowl.

Time to wrap it up. Make it a great week!
