A Healthy Mix

This weekend was a little bit of go-go-go and also a touch of chillax. Saturday kicked off bright and early because why wouldn't we sign up Gavin for the earliest swim lesson of the morning? It's not as if we're a big sleeping-in type of family. By 8:30 he was in the water and the tears were streaming down his face. It was stressful to watch, but luckily Dylan was the one in the water with him. By the time he had showered and changed, we were good to go. I'm not excited about going back, but societal norms say that kids in Arizona need to learn how to swim...and at a young age, so starting next week we will be regulars at AquaSafe.

Looking completely amazing for Cat Shirt Thursday at work

Was it the huge yogurt mess that made us late on Friday?

Or the excessive amount of selfies??

Cristy, the flight attendant on Dylan's plane, got Gavin a stuffed dog for Valentine's Day!

He kept calling the grapefruit "ball" or "apple."

Doing dangerous and fun things in a box.

A huge fan of skateboard-box rides.

Swim lessons. Not the best time ever.

What? I didn't do anything?

Next, we were off to Old Town for the Parada del Sol. We thought Gavin would enjoy seeing the horses and the parade, and he did! But it was hot and kind of a chore chasing him everywhere, so after waving to the mayor and the sheriff and The Charros, etc, etc, we headed back north to meet our friends who had been camping at Bartlett Flats. Gavin took a quick 30 minute snooze in the car, which was hugely insufficient given his hour awake in the middle of the night and a 5:30 wake time. (What was up with that??) Surprisingly, though, he did fine at the campsite and enjoyed being outside and playing with all of the other kids' toys. We loved seeing our friends, and we fit in a ride on the paddle boat and a game of bocce ball. I reached my limit of exhaustion around 5, so we loaded up and headed home where we put Gavin right in the bath and to bed for the night.

Eating a sandwich, watching the parade.

He loves his toy cars so much he wants to eat them.

Luke and Gavin jeepin'

I caught him relaxing for a minute, so I had to document it.

Sunday has been a completely different day. I'm still in my pajamas and have completely three loads of laundry among other things around here. Gavin has been perfectly pleasant, and Dylan's off on his bike. I'll take my turn this afternoon getting out and working on my fitness. The most exciting thing on the agenda is our second attempt at grilling a pizza. The first one was a failure. I love my family, and I love weekends like this!

P.S. In that first photo above, yes those are cats in space surfing on hot dogs. It was awesome to wear to Cat Shirt Thursday at work...less awesome when we hit Safeway on the way home.
