Dylan was away for most of last weekend, so Gavin and I took some time to re-group. We ran some errands and hung out with my parents on Saturday. We got plenty of time in the backyard, and by Sunday afternoon we could be found at the splash pad. Dylan had returned home, and Gavin and Cruz had a blast running around. G wound up with a bloody mouth and a fat lip, but after about 90 seconds of crying he was back at it. The water was freezing. I don't know how kids stand it, but they loved it.

Who is that kid running around in public in his swim diaper? Super classy. |
The week brought us lots of activity again. I capitalized on my days off and got out quite a bit, which is good because it's looking like I may be getting some extra QT with G and not so much freedom when Dylan embarks on a long trip soon. Tuesday morning was an all-family bike ride on the green belt. We finally got Gavin a new helmet since he was pretty fed up with us squeezing his enormous noggin into the old one. My mom just got a sweet new cruiser with fat wheels, and Dylan took his cruiser on its maiden voyage towing the baby trailer. At night we celebrated Jojo's big birthday with happy hour at Brio. (And a little shopping, since we were right there and everything.)

We've fallen into this great pattern of running through Costco after swim lessons on Wednesday because the timing is perfect. It's not too crowded, and we get home just in time for a nap. After Dylan finished up a meeting, I headed out to tour the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center with Marsha. We had talked about doing that forever, and I'm so glad we did it. It was AWESOME. I live about a mile away. It's basically the only thing nearby to my house besides other houses, and it took almost six years of living here to finally get there. Hurry up if you're planning to check it out...they're running into trouble because of a pesky neighbor and need your help!

I capped off Wednesday with drinks at Z Tejas with Tariq and family. I hadn't seen him in a year and a half! As always, it was so great to see him and to finally meet Ryan. A perfect way to close out second-weekend. I could definitely stand to relax a little bit, but I really had a great time with the festivities this week.
