A Weekend of Family Fun

As soon as Tilly walked through the door on Saturday morning, Gavin lit up. I think he had just about had it with spending time with me and only me for almost a week. He needed some PEOPLE. And people he got...they trickled in throughout the weekend, and we had NINE extra people sleeping here last night. Gavin moved downstairs for the night and slept in a pack 'n play in my shower and made it all the way to 6:45 this morning...his latest sleep-in yet on this trip. Maybe we should all sleep in the shower since it's apparently very relaxing.

We hit the road with Jordyn and Tess to Newport for a trip to the Oregon Coast Aquarium on Saturday after Gavin took a nap. Abby and the boys came too! Gavin was a wild man. He was so excited to be there with his cousins. He idolizes them...but they could probably do without him pestering them. He loved the otters and seals and really everything. "Otter in the water" was my favorite sentence of his all day.

Aunt Tess was a superhero yet again. Gavin wanted nothing to do with his stroller nor with me holding him. In fact, he would have preferred to run wild far, far away from everyone. Luckily he was happy in Tess' arms, and she had no problem showing him every exhibit and carrying him the whole time. I was so glad for my arms to get a break. We got a few raindrops but had a fantastic afternoon!

This morning we headed out early to check out the Lincoln City Farmer's Market, take a quick stroll on the beach and have a muffin. Then it was off to church where Gavin's own Guinea happened to be in charge of the toddler room, making drop-off a breeze. We had quite the struggle with nap time (to say the least...he almost crushed a pack 'n play), but it was all smiles in the afternoon playing with his cousins in the backyard and hanging with the family.

Being nice to Clyde? Maybe, but probably not.

It was a great weekend, but it's always kind of nice to put him down for the night nice and early and take my little escape. And just like that, it will be Monday before we know it!
