Winding Down...

We had our last full day of activities before we hit the road for Portland on Thursday afternoon, which will be the first leg of our journey back home. I have the next couple of days of laundry, packing, cleaning and loading up the car all planned out step-by-step in sequential order over the next two days so that we can hit the road just in time. We don't want to waste a second in being reunited with Dylan! We've done a ton of things during our time here, and it takes a lot of work to go exploring with Gavin in tow, so staying close to the house and getting ready for this next step will be a nice change of pace. Plus, we'll at least get to the beach and on a walk every day and maybe fit in another activity or two before we finish off our summer here.

After returning home from Portland yesterday, I didn't have much steam left in me to do a whole lot, so I went to a little-known park (according to the Internet) on the Siletz Bay to check out some different beach scenery. It was only a couple minutes away, and a quick trip out and back is just what we needed to close out the weekend.

He wasn't thrilled with the idea of posing on driftwood.

Getting the sand out of our shoes.

This morning, we stopped at a coffee shop for some treats and then headed out on a nature walk at Spring Lake. It was just a short little hike, and then it was time to get back home for lunch and a nap.

???

Playing with the sound machine with Grandpa. His favorite button is the "Poo poo noise." Of course.

See? So un-photogenic.

Snack at the lake.

Discussing bugs, butterflies and flowers with Guinea.

Our afternoon field trip brought us to Devil's Punch Bowl. It was an incredible sight. The tide was low, so we didn't get to see the punch bowl filled up, but the views were spectacular. It was very, very windy, and also I didn't have the motivation to take the stairs down to the beach, so we just ran around the park for a little while. Then, we stopped at Fogarty Creek on our way back home so that Gavin could play in the water...fully clothed and with shoes on, of course.

Can you believe it's almost August? It's crazy how time flies.
