Busyness

When a person bails from home for seven weeks, it's reasonable to expect to be busy upon return. At least for a little while. The highlights of the week were Sumer's birthday happy hour, family dinner with my parents, dinner at Mellow Mushroom, and lunch and a playdate with Nora and CG at open gym. We had plenty of lowlights and more running around than ever before. My dad spent a couple of nights in the hospital after having surgery to remove his spleen, and Gavin won the award for being the loudest person in the recovery waiting room. Dad is home now and feeling better. Dylan had a day trip on Thursday, Gavin hung with Dawn and the gang a couple of times and I put a lot of miles on the car.

I only captured one photo from the week because if I had any more they would be selfies of me doing things like having the car tuned up, getting my teeth cleaned, going to the pediatrician, taking Ramona to the vet, working on CE, or running errands. That's pretty much the kind of week it was. Here is a shot of G and CG in the foam pit. Gavin had had a rough morning and cried throughout his entire doctor appointment and was just a complete pill for reasons unknown. Maybe overtired? I never know with this kid. He was a little more civilized for story time at the library and then did fine at lunch and at gymnastics, thank goodness. CG sure impressed me with her independence, manners, social skills and lack of whining. What a great little friend! Thanks for the date, Nora and CG!

This was my first normal week of being in town and not working, and it suited me just fine. In fact, I liked it too much. It feels nice to be a person who can relax, sleep well, cook dinner for her family and be generally pleasant overall. I know Dylan appreciates it, too. A bit of a lifestyle change, but so far for the better! These coming few months will be the easiest my life has been for the past two years, and with a baby due this Christmas, I'm sure this is the easiest I'll have it for years to come. I plan to soak up and appreciate every single second of it.

So, there's the update on our past week and also an update on life these days. Gavin has to check in with the ophthalmologist, my dad is minus a spleen, and Ramona is on a course of steroids for a flare-up in her spine...but all things considered we're doing great and feeling thankful in every way!
