Prescott Weekend

We hit the road yet again to join a bunch of our friends up in Prescott for Hope and Chris's birthday celebration at the Hylands' house. We got to town at about 2pm, and Gavin immediately found his way to the sandbox with tractors and excavators. With access to the kiddie pool, it didn't take long for him to end up in just a t-shirt and diaper. Good thing we're all good friends. Harper and Avery have an awesome playground, swing set and a play house...quite the backyard set-up, complete with a variety of boy toys...so Gavin literally stayed occupied until we forced him to eat some pizza at around 6:30. It was perfect for us because we could catch up with our friends all afternoon and just poke our head toward the play areas swarming with tots to make sure he was playing nicely. Score one for the Hylands for collecting a few boy toys for the indoor and outdoor play areas. You guys are geniuses! The number of children age 5 and under was truly astonishing. Too many to count. Good times!

We found a nice, dark closet for Gavin's pack 'n play and wished him goodnight some time before 8pm then kept the party alive until almost midnight for me. A rare occurrence, for sure. I have no idea what time Dylan finally made it to bed, but I know he was pleased to have the opportunity to throw back a couple (plus or minus five or six or seven) beers with the Prescott crew. It had been far too long.

Gavin and the ladies having pancakes.

Looking pretty rough for the guy who got the most sleep of any of us.

Bedhead much?

In the morning, much of the crew assembled for breakfast. The kiddos were back at it, and Gavin was  one of only two boys. This rarely happens for him, so hopefully he appreciated being surrounded by the girls. We hung with our pals and helped to straighten up as best we could before hitting the road some time just before noon. The Hylands' house and backyard set-up is something to be admired. I almost wanted to take photos of the back patio to inspire myself to liven up my own a bit with some potted plants. Then I realized that was too lofty a goal for me, and I was over it. But wow, Hope has done such a nice job with the house since we were last there in December, just after they moved in. At the top of a hill with a beautiful view and perfect weather to boot, it was an amazing time. It actually got kind of chilly after the sun had set. We are so thankful they opened up a room for us to stay for the night and that we had an opportunity to see some friends we hadn't caught up with in a while. Thanks for a great time, G & H!
