Let it Rain

Gavin was confused this morning. He was awake and talking during the 4 o'clock hour, and since I had only just fallen back asleep after my ritual 3am pee and insomnia, I physically couldn't even turn over to look at the clock until 4:45. Then I went back to sleep and awoke to him babbling a few more times until about 6:15. I don't really know what went on in that crib for an hour and a half, and I don't really care. Surprisingly, on such little sleep, he did a smidge better at soccer this morning. As we made our way home, he fell asleep in the car, which only happens under extreme circumstances...like waking up two hours early. The problem is that his nap only lasts until we get home. Today, that was 15 minutes. As soon as I pulled in the garage and turned off the key, he was wide awake and ready to rumble. I tried putting him in his crib. It didn't work. I tried again a couple hours later. Same thing. So, it's been a very long day for these two tired Americans.

But, the rain and cooler weather this afternoon made everything so much better. We were maybe going to head to the park or go on a walk. Instead we stayed in and baked cookies, and then we ate those cookies for dinner. I don't make irresponsible choices like that very often, but it just felt like the right thing to do today. They tasted just like the Paradise Bakery chocolate chip cookie, my most favorite edible thing ever, so it was totally worth it.

Uh, are these things ready yet?

Sampling a coffee bean (thankfully decaf) and didn't even flinch

What could be better than swinging naked in the rain?

He gets a real kick out of this rocking bench and says "Weeee! Look at me, I'm riding the bench!"

It continues to happen that Dylan is out of town during the days that we don't have much happening. As soon as he gets home, we all have a bunch of different things going on in a bunch of different directions. This week is no exception. He should be rolling in tonight at some point before I hit the hay. Then, we will drop Gavin off at the grandparents' house early in the morning so that Dylan and I can attend an all-day birthing class. On the way home, we'll swing back by the airport to send Dylan off again to Somewhere, USA. We really know how to do the weekend right around here. Pfffffff. He'll get back just in time to take the reins on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday while I go here, there and everywhere. I'll definitely be ready for the change of pace. Signing off from my living room on a Friday night...it's Lu.
