It's 11:30pm and I haven't fallen asleep for the night. Usually I struggle to make it past 9. Tonight, though, I'm completely wide awake, and the only explanation I can think of is the iced tea I had for lunch, though that seems a little far-fetched. But, I figure what better time to catch up on the blog. I've wasted the last couple hours lying in bed, trying to convince myself that I'm tired. Enough is enough!
I'm trying to think back on the week, but it was mostly unremarkable as far as I can remember. Not a bad week at all, though. I hit 37 weeks pregnant...baby is full-term. So, that is something. Everything checked out good once again at my appointment with the midwife, thankfully. We also fit in a little bit of Christmas this week...Gavin and I went to town decorating homemade sugar cookies. It was a huge mess, but lots of fun. We also went to the Christmas celebration on Market Street. After Dylan kept getting delayed at a meeting, and I found myself carrying a heavy toddler for longer than I had hoped in very crowded quarters, I just about threw in the towel on the event before things even got rolling. Until I saw the lights of a fire engine coming up Market Street, and when I looked a little closer, I saw that Santa was on top of the truck. Gavin is obsessed with fire engines...and all trucks...so we watched the excitement of Santa disembark, and while we were waiting to get his attention, we spotted Shawn, Elaine and Luke from across the crowd. Dylan showed up a few minutes later, and I was able to hand off my heavy load and enjoy the festivities and the company of friends. Gavin went to bed on a sugar high that night after indulging in a candy cane and hot cocoa. What a happy ending.

He said, "ohh, that's good." And when I got him out of bed the next morning, instead of telling me good morning he said, "So, I want cookies." Oh boy. |

But perhaps the most remarkable story of the week happened at a random Starbucks over 20 miles from home. On Thursday, Dylan took Gavin to Dawn's while I went to a doctor's appointment nearer to our neighborhood. His plan was to then go to the Scottsdale Airport to get some work done. I left my appointment and had a few minutes to spare to find some food before going to my class at SCC. So, I got off the 101 at Indian Bend, and since Chipotle does not cater to the Hungry-For-Lunch-at-10:30 crowd, I decided to grab a breakfast sandwich from Starbucks instead. While waiting for my food, I saw Dylan sitting at a table and had to do a double take because I could not believe my eyes. He had brought his truck to Discount Tire after having some tire issues that morning and then walked over to the Starbucks to do his work. Nothing quite like bumping into your own husband by chance at a random Starbucks on a Thursday morning. But, I couldn't have asked for better company while I enjoyed some tea and a sandwich. I'm not sure what the exact odds are for something like this, but I'm fairly confident it won't happen to us again.
And now, G and I made the journey with my parents to the cabin for the weekend. We had a fun and relaxing first day, but I'll catch up on all the details of this adventure another time!
