Homebody

I've spent so much time at home lately, you'd think I'd have more luck updating the blog. But alas, unless I'm wearing the baby and standing up, I rarely have two hands free. He continues to be the type that spends most of his awake-time crying or eating. Dylan and I were discussing the other day...for two relatively agreeable people, we sure make babies that are full of P&V. The only question that remains is, which one is P and which one is V? But, we are still going with the flow. We haven't had to send Dylan out of town for work, and though he's been super busy during the week, we've had Dawn and my mom for back-up.

I spent five days in a row apart from the two oldest gentlemen in this family (not counting Joe). G was with Dawn and the gang on Tuesday and Thursday. He was super excited to welcome CG and her baby bro back to the clan and feels privileged to have other kids in his room for napping. "I sleeped with her," he says. Haha. On Wednesday, he had a Nonna day. Friday was an extra day at Dawn's, and Dylan spent the better part of the day golfing Silverleaf. A perk of his new job, well-deserved. Then on Saturday, D & G joined Luke and Shawn for a day at Barrett Jackson and Chick-fil-A. The boys loved seeing the remote control cars, and I was so happy D could take G to do something right up his alley.

I was especially happy when they came home in a brand new (brand new to us, anyway...a 2014 model) car. No more bumping kids' heads when I load them in or stacking groceries on top of people when we head home from the store. Plenty of room for two children, two adults, a humongous stroller, all our junk for long days out and about...and even groceries if necessary. Maybe not as friendly in terms of gas mileage with all the driving we do, but an increase in cost of living well worth it. We should be very comfortable in the Highlander. It was all D...I insisted that the Venza would be fine, that being crowded in our car was a first-world problem. But forever my knight in shining armor he went ahead and accepted a deal from his buddy, the head honcho at Toyota. And it makes sense. The people in this family are only going to get bigger. (With the exception being me and D, hopefully.) I'm sure we'll hang onto this car for many, many years!

Can you count the number of dangerous things in this sleep situation? I count 4. But he looks so sweet! I desperately needed a nap, and the only way to keep the baby asleep during the day is for us to nap together. This photo was from after I got up. #secondbaby

Isn't he sweet?

Giving a gift in the form of lemons to the baby. G2 did not appreciate it.

He's not super gentle with baby brother. Sometimes it's a problem.

Waking up for the sunrise every morning.

As for G2 and me, well, we've spent a lot of time in the same chair nursing. After almost six weeks of this, I'm going a little nuts. But, I've also been able to start making dinner again (with a baby strapped to my body), and we do get out on a substantial walk every day. I even took my first jog last weekend. My first 30 minutes away from this baby in his whole life. We did our regular running around and mom's group on Tuesday and Thursday. This included a few front seat parking lot nursing sessions and one diaper blow-out necessitating an outfit change. Typical newborn stuff. #whendoesitend

We had a nice time at the park yesterday. G2 and I hit a lap around the lake while D and G were at the playground. At night, we had dinner at the Jordans' house for the Cards game. Gavin loved playing with all of Luke's toys. He never turns down the opportunity to play with somebody else's stuff. I don't actually remember watching any part of the game, but it felt fun to get out of the house and see people. Thanks for having us!

And, the nicest part of everything has been the last two mornings getting up early with G. Being a morning person, if the baby wakes up at 5, I'm up for the day. Even if he goes back to sleep. I could totally use the sleep, but it's just not in the cards. Dylan is the opposite- he's a night person. So, I've been getting up with G. We eat breakfast together, I get a pot of coffee brewing, I add to my milk stash in the freezer (working toward my goal of occasional freedom) and then we veg out with cartoons. And that's where this hot second for blogging has come in!
