So Much to Say

It seems like I come up with all these great ideas for the blog when I'm incapacitated, which is almost always. And then when I finally can write, all I do is complain about breastfeeding and losing sleep and then post a few pictures and wrap it up. I guess I'm not terribly interesting these days, but it's for good reason.

I'd like to switch gears for a second though and talk about what I'd do with all the money if I won the Powerball. I surprised myself when I discovered that there's not a whole lot that I want/need. Mostly, I want to hire people that will improve my life. So, here you have it. I started it in order of priority, but then I realized that hiring a night nanny before I could afford to send my kids to college might be a little too self-interested, so let's go ahead and say this is in no particular order. (It isn't.)

1. A night nanny
2. A day nanny
3. Someone to clean the house
4. A live-in masseuse
5. A personal trainer
6. Enough money for both kids to be able to grow up doing any extra-curriculars they want and also go to college
7. A huge savings account just for medical bills, since we get screwed by these like weekly
8. Unlimited funds to remodel/redecorate the house (I have big ideas for painting, getting new floors, and completely re-doing the kitchen...)
9. Enough money for us to always eat food that's not chemical-laden
10. A little bit higher spending budget
11. A bigger car, which I could probably finagle without winning the lottery, but which doesn't seem practical given that "feeling crowded in one's car" is such a first-world problem.
12. Lots of awesome vacations
13. Just enough money to give to my grown kids so that they get a good start in life and make something of themselves...but not so much money that they make nothing of themselves.
14. A lot of money to non-profits...mostly to save humanity from the devastating effects of climate change, but also some for homeless animals
15. An apartment in NYC...if I'm feeling really greedy
16. More money to charity. The world needs a lot of help.

I don't want a new house as long as I can almost gut this one and re-do it, and I don't need anything fancy. Maybe some designer jeans? A new pair of boots, just because I like boots? Life gets too complicated when things get too big and grand. But, no. You cannot have a million of my dollars. Mark Cuban recommends against promising a million here and there to family and friends, and he's a billionaire, so I'll trust his financial advice.

Okay, more to follow. Many family updates and a couple more posts about other things that I have thought about over the last week or two.
