We've spent the last few days running around, so when I made my to-do list today, I made sure to put "blog" near the top...just after "pack Gavin's lunch," but before "dust the bedroom, clean out the fridge and do the laundry."
We did a zoo day on Monday, which could not have gone more smoothly. Except that part where Gavin threw a tantrum when it was time to go, and Dylan got his exercise for the day carrying a him across the zoo. But, that's par for the course these days. His behavior has been atrocious and everything is cause for a meltdown. I'm hoping it's still part of the "adjusting to new baby" phase and that it will blow over sooner rather than later. Managing this house has been a two-person job. I had to get out of the house semi-early yesterday with both kids on my own, and let's just say there was a LOT of crying from both boys and several bouts of wrestling a toddler into his clothes/car seat/whatever. I was exhausted, and it wasn't even 9am. So, I'm lucky to have had Dylan around for parts of most days. Next month may be a different story, so I'm mentally preparing myself for that right now.
Yesterday was spent out and about. G went to Dawn's, then G2 and I had plans to hit Target. But after spending over an hour in the car, G2 was demanding his next meal. So, instead we showed up at Babymoon really early for our appointment, which was a much more comfortable place for me to feed the baby than the front seat of my car in the Target parking lot. I know I've said it before, but I love being at the Inn...the offer to bring me snacks and coffee went on all morning. When I always explain that we live really far away, so I have to show up early to our appointment to feed the baby, they always say, "We love when you're here. You should always come here to feed the baby!!" Even if they're just saying that, it still makes me feel good.

G2 slept the whole time at the zoo, making the day very easy but the night not so much. |

Anyway, G2 saw the chiro, who has noticed great improvement. He likes to turn his neck to the right, so she's trying to prevent him from getting a flat head. He had some cranial adjustments, and she also thinks his latch is improving. According to the chiro, his baby acne is a sign that he's sensitive...as in sensitive digestive system, sensitive skin, etc. Just like his brother. (Oh, dear.) After our appointment, we sat at Babymoon (again) and nursed and shot the breeze with all the cool people before finally going to Target. We landed at a store on 19th Ave and Bethany Home...a part of Phoenix I don't think I've ever before visited, and then headed
back to Babymoon for the mom's group. Talking to the other moms about baby struggles is super duper helpful. I really love it. They convinced me NOT to cut dairy out of my diet and said that everyone blames everything on dairy. They recommended I take care of myself and not make myself miserable. They also assured me that G2 has green poo just because he makes green poo and not because of anything I'm doing wrong. They also assured me that pretty soon he'll grow out of staying awake for two hours at a time during the night. I was desperate for some encouragement. Thanks, ladies!
Before I knew it, it was time to grab G, and we ended up back at home just after Dylan for a night of chaos back at the ranch. Any tips for handling a toddler who is a total handful are appreciated. G and D went to swim this morning, and here I am blogging in my pajamas with my (possible third) cup of coffee. Happy hump day! Even as a person who doesn't work, I can still appreciate the merits of the weekend!
