It was definitely the right decision! We all needed the fresh air and change of scenery. Gavin stayed occupied outdoors and had a grand old time sleeping in "his room," which was my parents' closet. Not only that, but Dylan and I escaped on only our second date since Graham was born and went to sushi for lunch on Sunday. Our first date was just a couple days earlier when my mom came to watch the boys while D and I rode our bikes. Thanks so much, mom!
We captured a million photos and so many of them were such gems. Instead of captioning them, I think I'll tell the story above each photo. Sorry if that throws you off...
Here's our ride from Friday. My mom came to the house to watch the boys, and it was awesome! The first time D and I had ridden together in a year, and the first time we've done anything at all together since the baby arrived.
So many backyard shenanigans.
Smoothie face!
"Construction Daddy." Gavin thought it was so cool to watch Dylan hammer some nails in the wall.
Gavin had a blast torturing the dogs on the way to the cabin.
He clocked miles and miles on this little green bike, starting with the cart path.
Leave it to Nonna to fulfill Gavin's wish of bringing Joe down the slide.
He wouldn't let Papa carry him off the cart path without the bike. Obsessed much?
Weather worthy of a velour track suit.
The view from above of us just doing what we do.
Making French toast with Nonna.
Gavin played outside for hours. He wouldn't even stop to come inside and eat.
Looking for frogs.
Who is walking who here?
We had the baby carrier, but Nonna volunteered to hold Graham for most of the way around the lake.
Learning to throw rocks.
As close to a family picture as we could get. (The tiny cyclist in the background belongs to us.)
Or maybe this is better as a family pic?
Gavin's first Dilly Bar.
A tiny snooze for a tiny little guy.
I don't think the 50-degree weather warranted the one-piece fleece, but I wanted to get one use out of it now that it's 90-degrees and warmer at home from here on out!
Miles of smiles!
Still have yet to get the perfect picture of both boys together, but I'll take what I can get.
Taking a break to eat some chips with Papa.
Nobody understands the concept of using the toilet better than Gavin, but he just doesn't want to do it. The advice I've heard, and which I'll heed, is to wait to potty train till he's ready. He may go to kindergarten wearing diapers, but wait I will. And since he was having so much fun playing outside, I brought the diaper to him this time. It was vacation, after all.
Stopping for a half second to eat some applesauce.
Sleeping in Nonna and Papa's closet. Kid is way too big for a pack 'n play, but since he insists on remaining a baby, he somehow slept comfortably in it for two nights.
Showing his grandparents the impeccable manners we've taught him.
Climbing up on Papa.
Today feels so much like a Sunday. Not bad for a Monday. We are getting our act together around here and switching gears for the week ahead. I hope you had an enjoyable weekend and/or spring break if it was break time for you!
