Business as Usual

Our week played out much in the same way as every other week before it. With a side of vomit and diarrhea, which is expected a couple times a year with little kids. (I think?) On Wednesday morning, Graham showered me in a fountain of vomit and then spent much of the day sleeping. I was rocking him in the chair and about to put him down for his nap. Dylan was staying home with the boys and meeting me later at swim, and I was due to leave for the gym just minutes later. And before I knew it, I was covered from shoulder to knee, and the chair was soaked in it too. The sheer volume of barf that can exit a tiny person's body never ceases to amaze me. In record speed, I handed off Graham (who, by this point, was happy as a clam), stripped off my clothes, took a shower, got the laundry started, worked on the preliminary stages of getting the chair clean, packed up Gavin...and made it to the gym in time for my class. We weren't sure if it was a one-time thing or if he was really sick, but after he slept more than normal, we were pretty sure he was fighting off a bug. But, Gavin and I enjoyed lunch with Kris after swim and then some Easter egg decorating with cousins and Nonna and Papa across the street. Dylan stuck around with sleepy little Graham and caught up on work, and overall it was not a bad day.

Just minutes before all that milk came right back up. Also, look at that poor guy's eye. Not his best week.

By the end of the day, though, he was all about the macaroni and doing just fine.

Decorating egg cookies with N, P and cousins!

Just taking a cruise in a big truck on the patio, as boys will do.

The things that go down while I get ready for work in the morning...which make me so grateful to have Dylan in town and grateful for the overall stand-up guy that he is.

By Thursday morning, everyone seemed good as new. We proceeded with our day as scheduled, and everything was okay. Until the afternoon. Dylan got to Gavin's school, and as they were gathering his belongings and gearing to go, he threw up all over the classroom. Then, they picked up Graham, who was fine all day but had recently turned the corner to diarrhea. By the time I strolled in after work, Gavin was still snoozing in his car seat, and Graham was just being a happy little monkey.

Again, on Friday morning everyone seemed just fine. So we made plans to go to the county fair with friends and family. I stopped in for a workout beforehand, and half way through my class, Dylan called because Gavin had barfed all over the truck. So he turned around, and we cancelled our plans. So, we are laying low for the day and focusing on our decluttering mission.

And speaking of, we are about ready to list this place! I got some new bedding for our bed that has been underdressed for far too long, and things are really coming together. After watching Rafterhouse on HGTV, I almost convinced myself that I wanted to move to Arcadia. And actually I do want to live there...but I'm not the only person whose needs and wants are being taken into consideration. And truly, as long as I can live anywhere but here, that is fine by me. Also, thinking about where to live in the interim between old house and new house does not make me feel happy at all, so I kind of just don't think about it. When I think too hard about any part of moving and buying a house, it brings on a lot of stress or unpleasant feelings. So I just stop and focus on the end game. We will get there. Unless we win the lottery, we won't end up in a place that is perfect in every way, but perfection should never be the goal...right? The goal is closer, and that in itself is better. (I'll just keep telling myself that.)

I'm just waiting for the episode about the people working legit jobs who just want a modest home in a reasonable location.
