Labor Day For the Win!

This weekend panned out to be equal parts fun-filled and relaxing. I think I left off at Friday? Well, on Saturday, I took Gavin out to a viewing of Cars 3 at Studio Movie Grille. I think it was only his third movie ever, and he loved every second of it. Ordering a milkshake and popcorn (and a salad for me) direct to our seats was a special touch. They constantly have a $5 Groupon available and a variety of kids movies, so I'd say we'll be back for sure!

By Saturday night, we had everyone loaded up, and we took off down the street to visit our friends, Jeff and Katie. Jeff had just smoked a brisket and needed some additional manpower to eat it all. We were happy to oblige. Though J & K don't have any kids, they set up a movie room for our boys and Luke to watch Netflix, and it actually work out really great! Elaine brought a ton of activities for the boys, too. As always, it was great to catch up with old friends and new.

I think Graham ate his weight in pancakes on Friday morning.

Arms full of stuffed animals all the time.

Netflix for the kids!

Sunday was for church and hanging at home, and it was a very, very nice day. Other than that, we got Gavin out on his bike a few times, which he totally loved. Living on all dirt roads doesn't do any favors for a kid learning to ride a bike, but he handled it well. I am just dreaming about cool afternoons on the green belt. I'm pretty sure getting Gavin on his own bike for family rides will really slow things down, but I guess it's not a race. Can't wait!

On Labor Day, I took the opportunity to go to the Monday morning class at the gym that I've been missing ever since I picked up a half-day of working from home on Mondays. I ended it with a mini Saguaro reunion in the locker room, which was tons of fun, but which made me very late to the Johnsons' house for a BBQ. D met me there with the boys...but forgot the salad that I had fixed that morning. I grabbed a couple of bagged salads from Fry's and nobody minded a bit. That's what good friends are for, right? Now that the kids are older and in school, we don't see our pilot friends and their families as often. It was so nice to catch up with everybody. The girls even planned a weekend trip to Waco to check out Magnolia Market at the Silos. (In our dreams.)

I'll wrap it up with a bit of work since I played hooky this morning, and then I'll be ready to get my game face on for a couple short days of intense micromanagement at the pharmacy before another weekend is upon us. I can handle that!
