A sense of normalcy. We were feeling it this weekend. Dylan was in town the entire time, and Gavin was a good little baby. We kicked it off with a pizza party after work on Friday. M, K, and the boys came to join us, and after Gavin was sleeping soundly in his crib, we moved the party outside for roasting s'mores. But that wasn't all...Dylan and Hudson played a rousing game of Chubby Bunny, and then everyone was horsing around on the (fake turf) lawn, spinning and playing and laughing and falling all over the place. The lawn is riddled in dog poo, but it was dark outside...out of sight, out of mind. (Gross, but we had fun.) The adults also enjoyed a variety of wine. I had two, yes TWO glasses, which is more than I've had in the entire previous month. It felt so good to laugh and relax.

Saturday brought us more of the same. A solo trip out in the morning for me, a visit with family mid-day, and then, in what I thought would turn out to be a disaster, we took G with us to meet some friends for happy hour at Tavern Americana. And you know what? It was a huge success! And G wasn't the only little boy who minded his manners...Luke, Cruz, and Hudson were also pure delights. I think sitting outside and facing Gavin toward the parking lot where he could see all the action helped to keep him happy way past his bedtime. Even the drive home was full of smiles and giggles in-between yawns. I enjoyed TWO Blue Moons and a delicious taco. I made a comment on Sunday that I'd have to have a detox week after
all that drinking I'd done over the weekend. Dylan responded with something sarcastic that involved calling me Lulu Good Times. I deserved that.

On Sunday, Dylan passed up a rhino ride with the guys to hang with G and me because we had missed him so much. What a guy! We took off to a nearby trailhead and went on a hike with Gavin and the pups then grilled some food outside, prepared for the week ahead, and just laid low.

It was such a fantastic weekend. Nothing too exciting happened, but the whole family was together, the weather was eerily warm, we fit in some good meals and exercise, and everything was just the way I like it. I can only hope for many similar weekends in the near future.
