Ahhhh

I feel refreshed and recovered, but not because I had a spa day. No, I just took it easy today with my sweet guy. We had some recovering to do. Gavin partied till the wee hours with his Nonna and Aunt Angie, while I put on the ugliest and tightest pants that Wal-Mart had to offer and went down to Patti's house for the annual White Trash Party. Unfortunately, I didn't capture any shots of my outfit, but it was equally as hideous as the other years when I dressed like a man. (I decided to retire my transgender character for this year.) It was fun and ridiculous, as usual. I didn't make it back to my parents' house till after 11. WOW.

To top it off, I had made it an early morning and met Amanda and Sam at the Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market. It was really cool, but if you ever decide to go, you must get there at 7:30 before it opens otherwise it's so ridiculously crowded that it's not even worth it. When we left at 10:30, the cars to get into West World were backing up the freeway. Who knew so many people in town loved to shop for handmade and vintage goods? It was kind of like a brick and mortar Etsy...so I guess that explains the popularity.

So, when Gavin woke up at his usual 4:55 this morning, I was so happy my mom offered to take him. At first I refused because I felt bad for her, but then Gavin wanted to go with Nonna, so off he went, and I rolled over and slept until 7am. Once we got home this morning, we didn't make time for much else besides household chores and a trip to the gym and Safeway. When Gavin napped, I took a 15-minute shut-eye and streamed Veronica Mars. I'm learning how to relax again, and I love it.

Other than that I'd like to report that Dylan and I made time for another movie on Wednesday! It was called The One I Love (a Duplass Brothers movie), and it was one of those where you talk about it for quite some time afterward. I loved it. We never made the time to catch Boyhood, but we decided that that one would be better viewed at home in a few installments, what with my attention span being as it is.

After the movie we walked over to Pita Jungle, where the kitchen was backed up for 40 minutes. What kind of place do we live in where people have the availability to pack a restaurant for lunch on a Wednesday? I used to think we were special for doing leisurely things during the week, but turns out I was wrong. So, we went across the street to Oregano's and made unhealthy and delicious decisions. Thanks to my parents for taking the young guy so much in the past week!

Speaking of Gavin, he's just so feisty and busy and funny and hungry. In order to keep him from screaming and getting antsy in the grocery store, I have to push the cart really fast and say WHOAAAHHH, like a crazy person. But then he laughs so hard, so I don't mind acting like an idiot in public. He loves "talking" and "singing" and makes new noises all the time. We have a great view of the neighbor's horses out the playroom window, and he loves to say "horse," except for when I tell him to say it in front of other people. He continues to be very loud and very active and not a huge fan of sleeping, though I can't complain because he's really good about sleeping through the night, just not late into the morning. He's not so into naps, either. In general, I'm just a little worried that he's not catching enough Zzzzzs. Also, he really needs a haircut. But other than that, he's keeping me on my toes and doing great!

Admiring his new animal friends

Notice that Rowell has mice in her pocket.

Who wears short shorts?

Gavin has SO much fun in Nonna and Papa's playroom.

Tomorrow I will be coming home to a husband and a clean house, two of the finer things in life. Should be a great week!
