Tuesday Lu's Day! It's here! I might not get it back for a while. And that is fair...grown-ups that have little ones seldom get a whole day to call their own, so I can tough it out for a few weeks, I suppose. After having Dylan gone for five days, I could use the break, though. It's easier said than done, but I'll put in my best effort to not think of myself as spoiled for taking this day to let my brain juices flow and bask in the glory of geeking out on the things I do with only a few interruptions. I've already had my morning coffee and surfed the net for Christmas card ideas and also flirted with the idea of taking interior design classes at SCC so that I can actually know what I'm doing when I constantly change the look of things over here. Especially now that I want to paint the walls. (Will the interior design classes ever come together for me? Probably not.)
What else is on tap for the day? Well, after abandoning the gym for about a week, I'm hoping to keep up the streak and hit the trail on my bike for my workout. I also plan to have a wild and crazy time at Safeway loading up on the essentials plus a few extras so that a couple of recipes can come together. Then, I'll prepare one or two of those recipes. And, if I'm lucky, I'll be able to gather the troops to shoot a Christmas card photo. Maybe start reading a book. That last one is a pretty lofty goal, though. Tomorrow we have more fun in store, but I'll have some loved ones along for the ride. For now I'll enjoy the company of me, myself, and I.
And rewinding a bit...as I expected, the weekend came together just right. Gavin took a late nap on Saturday, so we headed out to shop for treats in the evening, and Gavin was able to catch a few songs during the live music concert at the splash pad. (We're learning that he's a big-time music guy.) On Sunday we left early in search of some soul food, and then ate some real food with our favorite Sunday lunch buddies, the Larson girls. The afternoon was all about gearing up for the week ahead and taking a neighborhood bike ride to visit the horses.

I'd say that Gavin and I make a pretty low key pair...but indeed, his feistiness prevails whether we are at home or out and about, so despite my best intentions, things are rarely mellow with us. I'm exhausted, and he doesn't make anything easy, but that's okay because relaxing is not really part of the package when you're raising a little kid. I know that these are the glory days, and I'll never get this time back.
