I had my day all scheduled out just perfectly. Dylan was working, so I took Gavin to Dawn's, and despite more traffic than expected, I got to the gym just in time for the HIIT class. After spending an extended amount of time at the gym showering, getting ready, and enjoying a smoothie, I went to see the dentist for a filling. I'm no stranger to dental work, so the thought of getting some shots in my gums and all the other gross things that go along with having a cavity filled, did not really have me worried. It went seamlessly, and I was in and out in 37 minutes. "Score!" I thought to myself. Until I realized that the next item on the agenda, eating a leisurely lunch, was not going to happen. The dentist warned me to be "verrrry careful" about lunch, as I was numb from my ear, across to my eye socket, and down to my chin. I guess he thought I could choke and so told me to stick to liquids.
You can imagine that my failure to recognize the fact that a leisurely and delicious lunch was not to be had after a visit to the dentist would be very disappointing for me. Lunch doesn't happen for me too often, and I was excited for it. Oh well, though, I headed to the Scottsdale Quarter, did some window shopping, and ended up at the coffee shop with an iced tea and my computer. I hadn't done CE for my pharmacist license in far too long, and I knew I'd better get cracking before it caught up with me. I took about 45 minutes to complete a 2-credit class, and then when I hit the button to take the exam, I received a notice that the class had expired in December. No credit was to be had. I would still be at 0 for my CE credits for the 2014-2015 term.
Yes, it was my fault for searching old emails for "Free CE" and not paying attention to expiration dates, but why on earth was the content and practice exam still available, then? I'm guessing my lack of lunch, and hence low blood sugar, in addition to the numb hemisphere of my face contributed to my inordinate anger and frustration. But really, I put a dollar amount on how I value my free time, and it's higher than my hourly wage at work due to its rarity and high demand. 45 minutes, then, is a substantial waste. I was so, so, so mad.
In a humph I bailed on the Quarter and stopped in at a Starbucks for a breakfast sandwich to go. I took one bite and realized, three hours after my dental work, that I had no business eating a sandwich, especially behind the wheel. Can you think of anything more dangerous than a person choking while driving? So I tossed the sandwich to the passenger seat and made it to my 2pm appointment for acupuncture in the nick of time. I do think acupuncture is one of the best things I've ever done for my well-being, and I left there feeling relaxed and grounded for the rest of the day. However, I think we can all agree that a Lu Day Do-Over is in order.
Finally, I'm finished burdening you with my first world problems, and I'm ready to move on to what went on last weekend. It went just how I like for weekends to go. For a while, we thought Dylan would be gone all day Sunday, but thanks to the nasty weather everywhere, that cancelled. We started things off right with happy hour at Jalapeno Inferno on Friday. Dylan and Shawn just happened to be kicking it at Twin Peaks in the afternoon, so both our families converged on DC Ranch for drinks and apps after work, and of course we couldn't get out of there without stopping at the bike store. Gavin and Luke exchanged some smiles and high fives and made us all proud of their good behavior.

We just hadn't gotten enough of one another, so on Saturday morning, we met up with the Jordans for a bike ride on the green belt, and Gavin and Luke got cozy in the bike trailer. The boys again were very good. We stopped at Lox Stock for some fuel before heading back, and we managed to miss the rain...which somehow seemed to never come all weekend. It was perfect weather for a ride...a little chilly and overcast. Saturday night was dinner with the family, Sunday was errands and nothing too exciting that I can even remember...and there you have it!
