The Crud

We're all fine for the most part, but our house has most definitely come down with a case of The Crud. Gavin has been battling a runny nose and cough on and off for the better part of a month, and then he caught a stomach bug causing him to throw up a couple of times. He stayed home from Dawn's on Monday with Dylan, and they spent the day rotating through different rooms of the house and in and outside to stay out of the way of the tree trimmers and cleaning people. Dylan's allergies have caused explosive sneezes for weeks, and I'm pretty sure we both caught some form of Gavin's virus because nobody can breathe out of their nose or sleep very well, and this morning I woke up with an intense headache in my face. It was lights out by 7:42 pm for the entire family last night. We all have headaches and are overly tired.

But hey, The Crud is bound to hit every household at least once a year, right? I'm just glad this stomach virus was so mild compared to last year's. I didn't feel so sick that I couldn't ride my bike this morning, and during my ride I thought about how glad I was that we took Gavin to the hospital when we did last year. I was so worried that I was being an over-paranoid mom at the time. But thinking back, holy smokes, he had ridiculous amounts of fluid leaving his body and nothing going into it. We were astonished every single time, like "where did that come from...how did all of this come out of that tiny body?" But this time around, the incoming and outgoing math was a lot less worrisome, and he's already doing much better. A good lesson to go with your gut, that is all.

Serious bedhead

Some extra baths and extra loads of laundry for the sick boy, but he was so sweet through it all.

We managed to do some running around today, too. It was a divide-and-conquer sort of day, and while my haircut was deleted from the agenda (due to my hairdresser catching the stomach bug), between the three of us, we added a haircut for Gavin, a bike ride, a trip to the vet for the dogs, a Craig's List deal, a visit to the grandparents, take-out Thai food for dinner, and some R&R. See, here we are just chilling in our backyard doing some aimless giggling on the trampoline. The weather was perfect in the shade for relaxing outside.

Yes, we live a most unconventional lifestyle with all three of us bouncing on the backyard trampoline at 2pm on a Tuesday.

Oh, and while we're posting videos, here is Gavin swimming last weekend and loving every second of it.

Oh, and here we are in Flagstaff. If you want to fast forward to about 2:50 you'll see my incredible fall while I was hardly moving, and if you listen closely, that is Dylan laughing. Dylan and G were all "Peace out...no friends on a bluebird day." But no hard feelings, I would have done the same if the tables were turned.

...and I'm really having a difficult time hopping off this YouTube train and realized I never posted the Aspen video on the blog, which was a much better one in my opinion.

It's hard to believe we were skiing just a couple of weeks ago, and we're almost at 90-something degrees here...which has us wondering if snow skiing might be a thing of the past for this part of the world in the coming years. Yikes.

Okay, that is all. I hope your household has stayed germ free!
