Stuff 2 Love

I don't have a whole lot to tell you, except that I had discussed with Nora how our blogs used to be semi-interesting to read, with posts about our opinions on things, etc. Now, this place has turned into just a life update every single time. So, I am going to make a conscious effort to vary the content of this blog, even if it's just a little bit.

As for our life update this week, well we've been here, there, and everywhere, but nothing exciting enough to report. Except today, during swim class, G was being a pistol. We really wanted to meet Nora and CG for gymnastics a little later, so we went to AJs for a treat during the time in-between so I could take a moment to judge his disposition, and then I decided that gymnastics was a go. My judgement was incorrect. We had just bought him a new Hot Wheels, and so instead of scrambling around with the other tots, he just drove his car all over the gym. Then, he put it in the pipe thing that supported the balance beam, and it got lost in there. Pretty much the end of his world. My rotund self was able to bend over and tip the balance beam enough to finagle the car out of there, and I continued to try to engage him in gymnastics, but all I got was an embarrassing blood curdling scream. So we left a little early. Homeboy was so tired and just not having it. But once he took a snooze, we had a really nice afternoon.

Would NOT get off the floor until the Hot Wheels was in hand

Dylan left early on Monday and will be home Friday night, so it's basically like he works a normal Monday thru Friday job, except that he skips those four nights of coming home to have dinner and go to sleep. The house is much more orderly while he's away, but it's a lot happier when he's home. One is most definitely better than the other, but I'll take what I can get. And with that, here is a little post on some things I've been enjoying lately.

1. HBO's The Newsroom- I haven't binged watch a TV show since watching The Good Wife around the time just before Gavin was born, and truthfully I missed it. It's so fun to get wrapped up in a story! I guess I really haven't had time for something like that, but mostly I just hadn't found a show worthy of making time for it. Dylan is able to carve out time to see movies and watch shows while he's on the road, so he made this recommendation to me. And a solid recommendation it turned out to be! A combination of my love for drama and the news, it was the perfect show for me. I finished all but a few episodes while in Oregon. It became my nightly ritual to put Gavin to bed, do a little exercise, perhaps blog, and then watch my show. Without a house to straighten up or lunches to pack at night, I suddenly had the time and the interest for a show. Once I arrived home, it was difficult to find an entire hour per episode to finish it off, but I finally did it last week, and I'm pretty sad about it. If you can recommend anything for my next binge watch (if you can even call it that, since it will probably take me months to finish), please do tell!

2. LaCroix- Who doesn't love it? It's sparkling water, totally unsweetened and without the nasty of anything artificial, but with a hint of flavor. I keep looking for it to show up at Costco, but so far, nothing.

3. AnyList- Dylan introduced me to this app to make grocery shopping easier. That way when we notice that we need something, either person can add it to the list, and it syncs with both our phones. Then, whoever has a chance to go to the store can just get everything we need without much effort involved. I've since added many lists to the app like "Target" and "Costco" and "Dylan to-do." I'm sure Dylan's not a fan of that last one, but it beats getting an email from me every so often. I feel like possibly I've posted about this before, but I'm still using it every day.

4. Sprout Crispy Chews- I buy these on my monthly Amazon Subscribe and Save, and I think they're great for on-the-go. They're just made of dried fruit (I think), and they're organic, which is moderately important to me. I allow eating in the car since we do spend a lot of time in the car, and it's the perfect little pouch size for Gavin to hold and eat while we zoom around town, and unlike most everything else, he has yet to suddenly decide that he doesn't like them anymore.

5. Wholly Guacamole- Little individual guacamoles, they're perfect for packing in lunches, and they don't have any of the gross crap that you shouldn't eat. I usually don't like individually packed goods because the packaging is so wasteful, but you know how it goes with guacamole. Anyway, they're delicious. Find them at Costco!

6. Maternity clothes- Actually, this should go down not as something that I love, but rather as something that I need...or actually something that I quite dislike but which is a fact of life right now. I remember at the end of my pregnancy with Gavin being thoroughly annoyed at the lack of variety in my wardrobe, but I also knew it would be foolish to spend a lot of money buying big clothes. I'm already reaching the point where I feel like my options are limited and I'm growing out of my normal clothes, but I just don't want to buy a bunch of things with elastic waistbands. Nothing that is maternity is real cute or unique, but I also am tired of wearing the same non-cute and non-unique things over and over again from my last pregnancy. Any suggestions?

7. Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups- They are my weakness, and actually I haven't kept them in the house for weeks because I cannot resist. They have the best treats at TJs, am I right?

Well, this post was heavily weighted on food, but I guess that's par for the course right now. I had a request for one of those mood board type things that I used to do, but I got a new computer over the summer, and it doesn't have Photoshop, and I probably won't buy it until I really, really need it. The computer is bomb, though, even without the Adobe suite.
