Birthday on a Shoestring

We packed in a full day of fun to commemorate my 34th birthday. Which was good so that I didn't have time to dwell on the fact that 34 sounds SO old. We started at The Good Egg bright and early with my parents to fill our bellies with breakfast before heading to Gavin's final soccer practice. Shortly after practice had begun, the Millers rolled up to Mountain View Park from the airport to catch Gavin's final performance. It wasn't impressive, but it was fun to have everyone there. After hitting the playground, we picked up groceries and headed home.

Hugging a gourd during a shopping trip last week.

Then, tasting the gourd.

Loving the rain (again)!

A few short hours later, Dylan and I checked into the Hyatt at Gainey Ranch. Yay for grandparents staying at home with G! We were first in line for the gondolas when they opened at 6pm, and then we headed to Fleming's for dinner. We topped off the night on the patio listening to live music before I hit a wall at an embarrassingly early hour. The best part? The room was on points, my parents gave us free passes for the gondola ride, we had gift cards for Fleming's, and we had access to the Regency Room for breakfast. Which meant that our entire night set us back only the price of the tip for the gondolier. We know how to do luxury on a budget, which made this birthday girl smile. On the other hand, Dylan went above and beyond and got me a Vitamix. We've already given it a few good spins and had only great results. I look forward to many soups, smoothies and nut butters in our future!

A treat from the Hyatt. Yum.

Gavin loves "Daddy's truck."

Hide and seek in a Tesla.

Cruising the mall in his dad's sunglasses.

We spent the middle of the day at home today, and then the whole bunch of us headed out to the final concert of the season at The Scottsdale Quarter. The weather was perfect, and Gavin had a great time moseying around...until he didn't. He had come down with a cough and was super-tired, so of course he reached his breaking point just as we were digging into take-out food from True Food. We wrapped it up in a flash, and now here we are. I haven't the stamina to make it to Patti's party tonight, but I'll sure miss seeing my pharmacy friends. After five lousy-ish weekends in a row, this one is shaping up to be a great one. When you factor dinner at Sauce with Jess and Nora a couple nights before, I'd say we have gained some serious momentum for good times. The best part is that we've still got tomorrow, too.
