Last Camp of the Season

We parked our camper trailer for an indefinite amount of time, but not before we took one last spin out to the rim. It was a very civilized two hour drive to our campsite, which is a HUGE deal when you've got two tiny children in the backseat. Among those of us that do not wear diapers, nobody peed their pants. We only had to pull over on the side of the highway once for a pee break. We missed the incredible rain around here on Friday but had our fair share of precipitation and cold temps. It was really great.

My brother's family camped with us, too. My cousin and his son also drove up for one night. We had trips to Willow Springs Lake, campfires and marshmallow roasting, catching bugs, reading magazines, rhino rides, walks, and lots of food. You know, the typical stuff. It's always so much fun to be out in the fresh air and to kick back for a few days. The only downside was that nobody slept good the whole time, so we were not at our best. Both boys were so overtired that we endured a double extended meltdown on Sunday evening back at home. It was exhausting but made me realize how far we've come in the last few months. I'm sure we'll encounter many hurdles of all different flavors as the boys get older, but Sunday night made me ultra-grateful that two kids screaming non-stop in tandem is not an everyday thing anymore.

I just love this little stinker!

Loves 2 camp!

Dandelions

Blanket bros

Hauling firewood with cousin Cruz

Uncle put them to work!

Can't look away for a second

Safety third!

Boys doing boy things

Catching up on the latest literature

This guy was (mostly) all smiles

This is what happens when you mess with your big cousin

I put these boots to good use. That always makes me happy.

Eating a dirty pinecone? No problems here.

They caught a tiny fish with the homemade fishing pole!

Love these sweet boys

So much help with pushing the stroller

Catching bugs...both with a crazy look in their eyes.

More bug shenanigans

Lots of rhino rides with Dad.

We didn't bring the double stroller, but Gavin still found a way to catch a ride

This captures our essence so perfectly

I know I keep saying that our summer of fun is coming to a close now that the busy season is upon us. Really, it is happening so soon. We have the rest of this week before we send off Dylan for a bunch of consecutive trips. I won't miss packing (and unpacking) everything for this family and all the effort that goes into camping, but I'm sure I'll be antsy to get out of here before too long. It was an epic summer, but our real life is pretty good, too!
