Adventures in Babysitting

My mom is a complete champ and took on the duty of watching the boys for three solid nights. Two of which ended with a 4am wake up call from Graham. My dad was out of town for much of the weekend, so she singlehandedly played the role of full-time Nonna with no complaints. They didn't just sit at home. No...they hit the library, Gavin's school picnic, Hudson's chess tournament, and the train park with some family. And possibly even more. When Dylan picked up the boys on Sunday, Gavin told Dylan that his highlight of the day was playing with Nonna. I'm sure my mom was ready for a full night's sleep by that point, but she's been asking to see them ever since. The energy she has is admirable, but her devotion to her grandkids is even more so.

The pictures of the adventures of Gavin and Graham are from before, during and after the weekend.

We headed to Fountain Hills before I left on my trip to check out the new instruments in the park.

What would be a trip to the park if we didn't stop to feed the ducks? #birdflu

And when it's October and still 95 degrees out, one cannot pass up the opportunity to dig into some froyo.

This guy was happy to hang out, though he gave a hard pass on the froyo.

He might destroy a few trucks before this phase passes, but his latest favorite thing is launching his trucks down the slide.

Whose house? Gavin's house.

Playing in Nonna and Papa's playroom!

The loudest guy in the library.

Nonna is so ambitious taking both boys to the library.

Happiest baby on the block

We had a sleepover with Luke on Monday night, and then Dylan took the boys to school together in the morning.

Three boys and one live cricket for breakfast. #gross #momofboys

What could be better than waking up while it's still dark and then finding a cricket on the floor to join the breakfast team?

Gavin wanted to sing and blow out candles for my birthday, and since it was my job to buy the cake, I chose the world's biggest pumpkin pie at Costco. #delish

I think in one more post or so, I should finally be caught up! Thursday night has become my new favorite night of the week. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are all about school and work and schedules and hustling and early alarms and meltdowns and packing lunches and appointments. Now it's time to shift into 4-day weekend mode, where our mornings still begin early, but we can find the time for exercising, hanging out and having fun amongst the chaos.
