Busy October

It's this time of year that I typically like to slow down, enjoy the change of the season, and get outside. But we'll be having none of that this year. As we embark on a family adventure tomorrow, we'll have the absolute pleasure of flying with our two small children. But we'll also enjoy two kid-free nights in the next big city, thanks to a variety of Millers (spearheaded by Tess) taking on the responsibility of caring for G&G. At this point in time, while I pack and prepare, I'm a little moody. But once we make it through security, I'm sure I'll be all smiles.

When we get home, we'll say adios (because Gavin knows that word from his Spanish classes...haha) to Dylan for 13 of the next 15 days. That makes me want to barf. However, I've got a little fun on my agenda for me and ONLY me before the end of October. If hurricane Matthew could please just not obliterate the East Coast, we should be all systems go. Of course, I hope for the safety of everyone from Florida to Maine in the coming week more than I care about spending a weekend being drunk with my girlfriends in Charleston. But I would really like for that to happen, too.

Graham's costume for Paul's birthday party on Saturday...except he wouldn't actually let me put it on him at the party.

A picture from Daddy Daycare on Sunday. Insert a million emojis with the heart-shaped eyes.

Graham thought that he liked mud, but then he changed his mind.

Good times with buddy Cooper at Cruz's birthday party on Sunday.

Happy 5th birthday to our adorable cousin/nephew Cruz!!

A little assistance from me in the silly string war.

Having a blast at the Lego place with Daddy.

The award-winning smiles that this guy throws my way every day make my work very rewarding.

That being said, you might not see me around here too much, except for one or two photo dumps of us in our PJs in the backyard or something. Mostly because I won't have anything interesting to share, but also because by the end of the day I'll be focusing my efforts on not becoming an alcoholic while I singlehandedly hold down the fort for the second month in a row. (Just kidding...kind of.)

Really, though, we've had Dylan home for a few days, which was just long enough for him to temporarily repair a leak under our sink and then arrange for a plumber to come replace the garbage disposal. That's the kind of stuff that I just don't do. I'm sure I'm smart enough to figure it out, and I could arrange to meet a plumber on my own, but I'd really just rather not. Also, Dylan and Gavin have spent a good amount of quality time together. I bailed on the family on Sunday because I needed the space from them and because somebody else needed me. And then I went to work on Monday and Tuesday, so D & G headed to the Lego Discovery Center on Monday while G2 mixed it up with the babies at the Scottsdale Learning Center. It's made a noticeable difference in Gavin's attitude, and I'm liking it. People have been sleeping past 6am lately, too, so that's improvement.

It's a busy season for our family and not busy in the fun kind of way...but it can't be all fun and games all the time, right? We will happily pay our dues in exchange for a fun and festive holiday season in the coming months. I've got pizza in my very near future and some more work to do for our meeting this weekend, so I should get back to work for now. Bye!
