It's All Cool

We've had a great week so far! We kicked it off with a lunch date with Jess and a visit to Nonna. We've, of course, fit in some time to hang with G's Aunt K and cousins, and I even stole some time to go to an eye appointment. G has a doctor's appointment today that will not make him very happy, but we plan to get an early start tomorrow for a weekend adventure!

He grew long black hair!

Not to change the subject, but Gavin has taken to cluster feeding in the evening hours. Which means he screams if he's not on a boob...and it goes on for hours. It's truly exhausting and has really given my patience a test, but luckily Dylan is okay with taking a crying baby so I can steal a break here and there to do something else for five minutes. I can't wait for Fall TV to begin so I'll have something good to watch during the marathon nursing sessions. I'm sick of the computer and reading baby books while I'm stuck on the couch. I read that the cluster feeding might be because of a growth spurt, or it might just be his style. I think he tanks up before bed because he's actually a pretty good sleeper at night. I'm not sure how long he would sleep on his own, but I have to wake him up to feed him one time in the middle. So I guess good sleep at night is a pretty good trade-off for tedious evenings.

I love this wagon!

The froggy pose.

Our little co-sleeping gentleman.

I hate to switch gears on you yet again, but does anybody have suggestions for post-pregnancy ab exercises? I'm not up to doing anything too aerobic yet. I can't even walk at a normal pace unless I'm pushing a stroller or a shopping cart and using it like a walker, so I don't see jogging in my very near future...but hopefully in a few weeks that will change. I don't see any reason why I can't get this core of mine as close to normal as possible, though. I'm thinking of strapping on my BodyMedia armband again. I knew I would have a hard time with the postpartum flabbiness, and I'm trying to take it in stride, but I'm ready to do what I can to fit in my jeans. I do fit in my jeans...but only the jeans from the days of yore when I had some extra junk in the trunk, and even then I'm sporting a magnificent muffin top. I miss my pants from last year! I can't wait to have a fully functional body and to get back in that gym. Thank goodness they have a day care!

Furry boots!

Speaking of day care, it's looking like Gavin will be joining his best friends Catherine and Drew (neither of whom he has yet met) for his daytime activities when I go back to work. I am so excited for the little ones to be together in such a great place. I have a feeling the conversation at my regular Chipotle dinner dates with the girls may sometimes take a different direction in the near future.

Next week Baby G will turn a month old. It does feel like it's flown by...but at the same time it seems like ages ago that I was a prisoner in that hospital room. I still haven't reached that point where I can't remember life before the baby or what I did with all that time on my hands. But I have a feeling that's all just around the corner.
