Happy Heart, Full Belly, and One Tired American

This weekend did not turn out at all like I'd expected, and I mean that in the best way possible. Having Dylan at home opened up endless opportunities for us as a family and me as a person. I was able to escape on Saturday night to meet Anne and Nicole at The Yard in Phoenix wayyyy past my bedtime. How great it was to get out on a weekend night...for the second weekend in a row! My head found my pillow sometime just past 11, and Gavin's voice found my ear via the monitor some time just after 12. After this little hiccup, he slept till 6:15, for which I am grateful because I'm bone-tired as it is, and a 4:50 wake-up may have just done me in for good.

We were able to get an early start and get to church this morning, where we met up with our friends, the Larsons. We followed it up with an impromptu lunch at Emily's Cafe, where Gavin had a great time flirting with the girls. What a wonderful morning! With our bellies full, we headed northeast to our home, where Gavin made a successful car-to-crib transfer at naptime and ultimately slept the better part of three hours. (Always a victory for me. A huge victory.) I quickly gathered my belongings and headed out to Meredith's baby shower, to which my original RSVP was "no" due to lack of childcare. The hostesses graciously and excitedly allowed me to change my RSVP with just one day's notice, and I'm glad they did because I had so much fun catching up with everyone.

Sweet guy, snuggle guy.

Screaming guy.

Haha.

He loves these girls, I promise.

I've just finished stocking our fridge and cabinets with fresh groceries, the boys have had a full day of football, and we're all wrapping it up around here to take it easy before calling it a night. I've probably gained 40 pounds in the last two days, but it's never been more worth it. And to top it off, we got a bunch of rain followed by some mild weather. Could Fall be upon us? It's doubtful...but a girl can hope.
