Snapshots from the Week

This week, we just did what we do. Worked a little, had a family birthday dinner, had a short visit with Dylan's grandpa, got out on my bike a couple of times, dropped in at a mom's group, hit the gym, bought one of everything at Trader Joe's. The usual.

The best toys are at the grandparents' house.

Helping his dad with his early birthday cake.

The weekend's been great so far as well. We hit Roadrunner Park on Saturday morning to buy some treasures at the farmer's market and of course visited the swings and the ducks and geese at the lake on our way back to the car. We raced back home so Dylan could get out on his bike with some friends, and then I wrapped up the afternoon with yoga and a massage. I timed my afternoon adventures perfectly with an unexpected power outage. The lights came back on just as I was pulling up to the house, and I had a warm meal waiting, which was prepared on the patio with the bar-b-que and a gas camping grill during the outage.

Entranced by a YouTube slide show of yellow buses.

Gavin was up way too early this Sunday morning, so he joined us in bed...which wasn't restful at all.

Just a kid, just sitting on a rolled up rug.

I got back on the trail early this morning to beat the crowds, and I'm glad I did. The parking lot at the trailhead was as full as I'd ever seen it by the time I finished my ride. No surprise there...the weather has been perfect. I saw two deer, which was unexpected and a little startling, but overall pretty cool. We've got a potluck BBQ with friends to look forward to this afternoon, and we are excited to chill for the next couple of hours before we embark on the whirlwind week that is upon us followed by a busy work schedule for Dylan. Which, if last year was any indication, will be our new normal until probably next January. But, it's been a great month, and I'll take what I can get!
