6 years ago today

...was also the Kentucky Derby. But more importantly, we said our I Dos and celebrated our marriage at McCormick Ranch. As it goes with most major life events, it's gone by so quickly, but at the same time it feels like it's been an eternity. I hardly remember life before being married to Dylan, and I mean that in the best way.

Back in 2009, I was barely the same person I am today. My priorities, interests, overall understanding of the world and day-to-day life back then do not even resemble those of my present-day self. Wow, what a journey it's been! We've grown a lot, and it's certainly been an adventure. An adventure worth taking to be sure.

We make a great team, and I could never ask for a more patient, mellow, understanding, supportive, and caring guy by my side. How lucky I am. Even almost two years into our parenthood gig, and I feel like as far as things go between D and me, well, not much has changed. I'm so excited for the next million years we have ahead of us.

No shortage of palms at the Hyatt

Dinner at SumoMaya

To celebrate, D got us a nice room at the Hyatt in Gainey Ranch. We had our own balcony with chaise lounges overlooking the pool. He picked up Gavin at Dawn's and brought him to my parents' house so that I could head to the resort right after work to relax. After grabbing some snacks and freshening up for dinner, we headed downstairs to enjoy the live music on the patio. The performers were incredible. We didn't want to leave, but we also had reservations at SumoMaya. So we did leave. It was Dylan's first time at this restaurant and my first time eating dinner there. It most definitely did not disappoint. We zipped back to the Hyatt afterward and grabbed the last hour of live music before calling it a night. In the morning, we had breakfast and then relaxed by the pool. The Adult Pool. Because we could. Around noon, we packed it in and left to pick up the wee one. Oh man, it was such a relaxing and fantastic night and morning, which makes me think we should start celebrating half-anniversaries, too!
